🦊 Furry Furry Convention Drama - Because you can't have a couple thousand dog fucking enthusiasts under the same roof without shit hitting the fan

Crusader Cat brags about how much better he thinks his fursuit is compared to what other furries are wearing. He's also been kissing up to Uncle Kage.

On the one hand, kudos to him for bringing the exact same insufferably smug energy these people use against other people.

On the other hand, it's still insufferably smug so they all deserve a gasoline shower followed by an instant blow-dry with a lit match.

If someone flipping off Crusader Cat is our big discussion topic, must've been a boring AC.

The whole "they took my picture without permission " thing is kinda interesting in context: every conventions I've been to (even fanexpo had a sign) tends to push a "cosplay is not consent" rule. You're still expected to ask for pictures, just like you're expected not to touch/be creepy with them.
It's considered convention etiquette, although I'm sure most people don't care that much if someone takes a candid shot.

as is the case with most neat little activism phrases, they only apply to a particular sensitive and protected group of people- in this case, as is with many, women
cosplay is not consent when you're taking a picture of a sexy woman, anyone else and suddenly "oopsie, public space, you're in costume, yadda yadda eat a dick"

In general, "cosplay is not consent" applies to being touched, picked up, hugged, etc. It's intended to remind people that there's an actual person underneath the costume, and that they might not be okay with whatever physical contact you want.

I've seen ones that actively state to ask permission before taking pics as well.

Utterly retarded. You're in a space with hundreds (or thousands) of other people, in a culture where practically everyone has a camera in their pocket. You're going to be in pictures you don't even know about, much less gave consent for.

Not even on purpose, either. Suppose somebody wants to take a picture of "the exhibit hall" in general to capture the overall vibe of the place, the size, the crowd, the variety of vendors, etc. Are they seriously supposed to approach every motherfucker in the hall to beg permission for a photo? If one person says "no," does that mean they can't take the picture of the whole place?

Nah. Retarded. "Cosplay is not consent" itself is retarded too, and only had to be said because idiots like Momokun started grabbing asses. The few instances that actually happens should always result in a hard punch to the nose, which would put a stop to that practice entirely. But dressing up as something special, unusual or popular and then expecting nobody to take pictures without permission is just astonishingly retarded. If you want rules like that, go dance at a strip club. It's harder to cosplay there though.

Booth babes never pulled this bullshit. They understood the game.

Crusader Cat is now bragging at how all the attention he got at Anthrocon has made him more popular than ever (in his own mind of course), but the truth is, 99.9% of it's negative attention.

At this point I genuinely have to wonder if it is some perverted humiliation fetish or something. He basically begs for the negative attention. I don't believe for a moment he doesn't realize what he says will prompt a negative reaction.

Especially the thing with him having "15 people wanting to fuck his brains out" despite the fact that as far as anyone can tell nobody has been in contact with him. There's also the weird AI porn post regarding him "bringing an otter" with him to AC, yet was this person even pictured or mentioned once other than that? Do they exist at all?

Anyway, if you don't follow the Crusader Cat thread itself, I've written and proposed a new OP Rewrite after his antics this weekend. Let me know if there is anything I should add/change there.

He's being a troll, pure and simply. Saying outrageous shit just to get people riled up.

I've heard multiple things- The first is that CrusaderCat registered under a fake name. But you need a valid ID to get a con badge, so unless he has a fake ID I don't really buy this.

I also heard that he showed a picture of a different fursuit when getting parade-approved.

Furries also tend to think you can ban people for having shitty opinions and beliefs but that's literally illegal and could end in a lolsuit for the convention.

The thing is, they're a social club. They can ban anyone for any reason or for no reason at all. There's someone who's been banned for just being them. That's it; that's the reason.
