I grew up watching anime as a kid in the 80s and 90s. I loved to draw and Walt Disney was one of my heroes. I would never dismiss a piece of art because of the medium it's in.

With that said, adult men should not watch anime as a habit and that's especially true for the loli shit or whatever you want to call it. If there isn't something wrong with you for watching pre-pubescent looking characters on a regular basis there soon will be. Beyond the visual aspect there's something about the lack of nuance in expression on a cheaply animated character from an alien culture translated from another language. It is peak autismo slop.

I listened to the entirety of the Jim/Kirsche stream and have to say I lost respect for him. Beyond the cloying nature of the interview I was struck by just how unremarkable Kirsche is. There is something off about a middle-aged man who can enjoy someone like Kirsche or Pippa Pipkins. The thing is some anime is explicitly for adults and not in a sexual way. As much as I meme on anime fags some of it is no different than say, Family guy which is a western cartoon aimed at adults. It follows a brother and sister as they try to survive wartime conditions and active bombardment. For some reason, in the middle of this narrative, the Japanese writers thought it was a good idea to include a scene of a four year old girl peeing. This passed all the smell checks and the animators committed it to the project. Japanese people are not like us.

I think it comes more from a place of emotional manipulation, as opposed to hidden pedophiliac messages.
That title deals with the attrocities of war and the human misery it inflicts. So, when you're trying to convey such a message, you can further amplify it by using children instead of adults, because nobody likes to see kids suffer.

There's plenty of other examples, if you wanted to highlight the japs dysfunctional sexual attraction to children, but the example you gave is a big stretch.
