Because it's not a myth, it's a factual statement lacking in significant historical context.

In the west, plenty of nobility would marry that young or younger, but the purpose of the marriage was political, not sexual. For the common people marriage age was usually much older, though there were always outliers before age of consent laws became more modernized (ex: that one famous story of some american farmer marrying a 9 year old back in the 1800s). It's also often left out that women tended to mature slower back then due to malnutrition and probably also because their food wasn't pumped full of growth hormones that trigger early onset puberty. In short, this means they were likely not fertile at marriage age if it was their early-mid teens, at least not in a practical sense.

Outside of the west, some cultures very commonly arranged marriages between children and adults, and though the male was usually older that wasn't always the case. Probably the most famous is Aisha and the prophet Mohammed (may he burn in hell), but that situation wasn't overly unusual in the middle east at all. Same shit in the far east, same shit in Africa, and though I haven't heard of it happening with the NA/SA natives pre-contact I wouldn't doubt it did.

What's worth noting here for purposes of counterargument is:

No normal man is going to be caught dead trying to do something like that and it carries significant legal penalties, so even if the person arguing on the other side refuses the other points made above they must concede that the legal risk alone filters the pool of men who would engage in the behavior heavily, skewing it towards antisocial degenerates.

So yeah basically it's worse than if it was a myth, it's practically a counterargument to their whole position if you expand it out.
