A thing that loli characters don't have. They act joyfully, happy, young, and "upbeat", because japs are obsessed with youth.
I agree. This is where that 100000 year old stuck in kid's body can work without being fetishistic. It looks fun at first, but it's a curse. You can only grow in your mind, but in your body, no. You will never be happy because everyone is so big and can do the big people things without being seen as strange or in a pitiful situation. You will watch everyone you love grow old, weak, then die while you're stuck in a child's body. It's a good story for a tragedy. If I were to choose which age I would be stuck in, it'd be in my mid-20's, the peak of my physique and old enough to pursue relationships and opportunities without turning too many heads.
Dragon Maid has good potential for tragedy in between the light-hearted moments. Just don't make Lucoa a pedophile or sexualize Saiwaka and Kanna and you have good tragedy material. Why? The dragons live way, way longer than the humans. Even if Shota were to grow up, he'd die before Lucoa. Tohru and Kobayashi can live together, but Kobayashi is going to die first most likely. Kanna and Saiwaka's promise of being together until they're grandmas was sad because we know Kanna will age very slowly, but Saiwaka is a normal human girl who will grow up (she cannot be with Kanna anymore because she'd be an adult) and die long, long before Kanna does. It's a silly anime with cute characters, but you know this lightheartedness won't last because the humans will age then die before the cute, endearing mythical creatures who love them would. If only it weren't so sexual with kids. OK, do it with the adults, I don't care, but minors is where I'll draw the line.
Nanatsu no Taizai anime was a wasted potential. "Stay away from my woman" while holding the baby as a 3000 year old demon (that also looks like a kid, mind you, portrayed in sexual situations) is just wrong, even if the baby were the reincarnated body of his lover. Also, showing him with the kid reincarnation. The loyalty Meliodas and Elizabeth had for each other no matter what was so beautiful, but it got stained by the pedophilia. That's commitment for 3000 years! And it had to be ruined by pedophilia. Even if Elizabeth died at age 20, it's still just as sad. Instead of having Elizabeth die at a minor's age with Meliodas seeing it as a way to show that either way, it's sad because if Elizabeth dies young, she'll never live a full life and if Elizabeth dies from old age, Meliodas will never grow old with her to join her. I mean, I've seen other people see mid-20s as old nowadays!
A lot of these have very simple solutions for the plot to go forward and even have character depth, bur of course, pedo gooners gotta ruin everything.
