I just remember the last couple Disney trips I took with my family well over a decade ago, in the days of paper fast pass and easy single rider lines. Without the whole obsessive booking and planning you need to do now, we managed to hit every single ride we wanted to multiple times a day and had an amazing time. The way things are now it’s prices and wait times, now that I’ve got my own kids, I can’t see ever justifying a Disney trip which bums me out because they were a real treat growing up.It just sounds ... Not at all worth it. It fucking sucks, because as a parent now, it would be cool to take my kids on a vacation to experience that "Disney Magic." Waiting in long lines all day in the Florida heat sounds like the opposite of kid friendly, though.
The only time I've been to a Disney park was back in 2006 when I went to Florida for my 10th birthday. I regretted even going to Disney instead of having a second day at Universal. The only thing I remember from that entire trip is being disappointed by Disney. It just sounds ... Not at all worth it. My husband and I did a Florida trip a long time ago, where we just stayed there for 2 weeks and did a bunch of random stuff that the state had to offer. The only time I've been to a Disney park was back in 2006 when I went to Florida for my 10th birthday. I feel ya. Doing a Disney Parks trip with my kids sounds like an awesome time on paper ... But everything I've heard in recent years sounds like going to Disney would actually be an awful time now, especially if you have kids. Waiting in line for stuff for hours at a time? Yeah, tell a 3-5 year old kid to stay patient with that ... lol.I just remember the last couple Disney trips I took with my family well over a decade ago, in the days of paper fast pass and easy single rider lines. At Universal, one fast pass worked for all rides. There wasn't that tedium of having to buy a new one for each and every ride. The only word I can think of to describe my time at Disney is "tedious". Everything about it was a slog. If you've got a kid who just wants to go on rides and gives zero fucks about anything else, Disney is not it.Disney and Universal were a part of the trip. When I told people that we were going to Universal, the big reaction was kind of a flatline? Like, "Oh. Universal. That's pretty fun, I guess ..."
I went into Universal with low expectations, and was blown away by it. Loved it. It's undoubtedly a theme park that is best suited for families with kids that are around the age of 10. Age 10-ish is when a lot of kids want to go on more exciting rides, and Universal provides that much more than Disney.
I've enjoyed my times at Disney, don't get me wrong ... But Universal has better rides. Hands down.
Sad but very true.Being a parent sucks sometimes in this modern age. More and more things are becoming unfriendly for children ... And it looks like even Disney vacations are becoming increasingly less friendly for kids.
The parks thrive off of year-round and international tourism, and sadly a Texas park wouldn't perform as well in those departments. There's also the concern over a third park taking away attendance numbers from the other two parks which is a big no-no for the suits at Disney.I know this is a side tangent to what is supposed to be a thread on Disney Adults, but why isn't there a third park in the US? Clearly the parks are simply just too overcrowded and need another location to handle the capacity. I don't get why they will just bite the bullet and build a Midwest park and accept it has to be closed during the winter months or build a park in Texas. Though I suppose that if they did that the nickel and diming of guests wouldn't be able to happen.
I went to Disney a very long time ago, and I was still a little kid so my memory is a little hazy at times. One of the things that surprised me was when my friend went, she had to pay for the new fast pass system, genie or whatever, and it was some sort of weird subscription thing? She mentioned being frustrated a lot by it, her husband was annoyed by it, and her kids didn't really get the magic because they were constantly rushing around instead of exploring the park which isn't fun with a six year old in the mix either. I remember the fast pass system being free when my dad and I were there, and it was in a paper format. And people were so pushy in the lineThe last time I was at Disney World was 2017. The prices now are drastically higher compared to the last time I went. I've also received word of mouth from people I know that the parks are just too crowded now and that you are essentially paying an arm and a leg to wait in lines all day long, and that the "Fast Pass" system isn't really efficient anymore.
Even though local or state fairs can have a "trashy" reputation, I enjoy my time there a lot with my friends. There's fun for everyone there.Just stick with Universal until they build a new park in Texas or something lmao.
I always wondered as well to be fair. I can understand where there's no Disneyland New England, building one would be hell, but I get more surprised there's no Disneyland New York, despite also being northern, but they have so much of upstate New York, or Disneyland Texas. Especially with how Texas has very little regulation and is constantly warm for people to visit. I can see how they don't want a third park to split costs, but Disneyworld is always going to be crowded with how many are moving to Florida. Don't know which Midwestern state would be the perfect one. Illinois? Missouri? I always thought it would be one of those two, or Minnesota if they did a midwestern park.I know this is a side tangent to what is supposed to be a thread on Disney Adults, but why isn't there a third park in the US? Even if you’re willing to spend the money, who wants to spend vacation with hot, tired, bored kids waiting in line and running from appointment to appointment within the park? It sounds awful. I’d rather use that money to rent a beach house and order takeout all week. The kids will have more fun and you’ll be less stressed out.her kids didn't really get the magic because they were constantly rushing around instead of exploring the park which isn't fun with a six year old in the mix either
I feel a more localized park but with quality theming would do very well. I don't get it though as I know they want record attendance but eventually more and more people won't go if they can't have a good time due to the wait times or all the blatant anticonsumer practices like no paid parking for hotel guests and fast pass for ONE ride, one time. The parks thrive off of year-round and international tourism, and sadly a Texas park wouldn't perform as well in those departments. There's also the concern over a third park taking away attendance numbers from the other two parks which is a big no-no for the suits at Disney.
Funnily enough there actually WAS a plan to build another park, it was called “Disney’s America” and was apparently going to be built in Virginia, and would've been a smaller park focused on a more "local" feel rather than being a giant nationwide attraction kind of deal like World and Land. It was scrapped in the 90s, but the idea of more parks has crossed the execs minds once or twice at least.
Everyone was telling her "Are you sure? Your children are little. I would wait until they are older." and she went anyways as her kids were begging lol. She admitted next time she will just use drive to a nearby theme park, or go to a lake. She was horrified that some people took their two and one year olds to the park, and some of those toddlers looked very stressed. Obviously those parents were there just for themselvesEven if you’re willing to spend the money, who wants to spend vacation with hot, tired, bored kids waiting in line and running from appointment to appointment within the park? It's interesting even if you don't care about Disney because several bits about lines and crowd control apply in other areas, and is just good to know in general.

I doubt this website is intended to be viewed on anything other than a phone. It's crowd channelling for retarded facebook moms led there by AI SEO designed to get people to book something/anything as fast as possible. Take a look at it on mobile and its general appearance will likely make more sense.Out of curiosity, I checked out the ticket reservation/pricing system and annual pass info for Disney World online. Their website is beyond retarded and looks like it was designed and built by jeets.
For example:

(Autistic, but) There are 3 different styles of drop shadows and all kinds of weird spacing issues on this page alone. Also links in the dropdown menus almost never take you to where you'd expect them to.

All of those connect to the exact same page that has all the resort hotels. Bizarre user experience design choice.
Am I the retarded one? Is it because the European version of the site is somehow worse than the US one? I refuse to believe that Disney would let their website look and work the way it does.
