I wanted to slap that malformed grug when I read that. Mikrotik is very decent hardware and perfectly servicable software at extremely fair prices. Price per value, its hard to impossible to beat. That's why they are used to such an extent in developing countries. I'll bet this loser unironically expects Tshwanbe to buy a Cisco support contract when setting up a WISP for his village.

Ubiquiti's wireless gear is expensive but standard-setting. Everything else in their lineup is pretty wack.

That is Emmanuele Bassi, also known as "ebussy".
/g/ started using him as a reaction image along with phrases like "What is the use case for ___", "What makes you think ___ is a metric" and such a couple years ago. A lot of similar quotes from other GNOME developers are mis-attributed to him as well.
This GTK issue is probably what he's most known for, but he has a much longer history of doing this:

i seriously don't understand what the hate for mikrotik is about. i've never had an issue with any mikrotik product ive ever used. if anything, cisco routers have given me significantly more trouble (and cost way more)

Used to have a blast hacking them back in the day but thats about it, they're just as good as any other
