PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Shocking video shows multiple people pulling out guns and opening fire during a deadly mass shooting early Monday morning in the Grays Ferry section of Philadelphia.

The Ring camera footage is now part of a police investigation into a gunfight that left three people dead and 10 others injured.
The shooting happened just before 1 a.m. on the 1500 block of South Etting Street.
After making several arrests over the weekend, police were monitoring reports of large gatherings and loud music.
They were in the process of responding to a nearby call when they heard the gunfire.

When they arrived on scene they found a dozen shooting victims ranging in age from 15 to 24.
Additionally, another person was injured while trying to get away from the gunfire. That person was not shot as originally reported.
Police released images of several suspects seen on that Ring video.

The victims who were killed have been identified as Zahir Wylie, 23, of the 1100 block of Marilyn Road; Jason Reese, 19, of the 5400 block of Media Street; and Azir Harris, 24, of the 2400 block of College Avenue.
Among the other victims are a 15-year-old girl and two 17-year-old boys.

There is a 19-year-old man listed in critical condition.
The other shooting victims, ranging from 18 to 24 years old, are expected to be okay.

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel said it appears the shooters were firing indiscriminately even with children nearby.
"This is coward stuff. You see the size of this block - individuals just shooting randomly into houses, into cars," Bethel said. "I mean, this is coward, wannabe thug stuff."
He said it is "hard to understand" why people engage in this kind of behavior.

"But as we do in all of our investigations, we will get to the root cause and we will bring those individuals to justice," Bethel said.
At least one person with a weapon was taken into custody. Their exact involvement is unknown at the time.

"Frustrating and painful"

Tyrique Glasgow is Executive Director of the Young Chances Foundation, a youth center in Grays Ferry working to end violence and provide opportunities for young men.
He said the shooting is "past frustrating."
Glasgow said he knows many of the victims in the shooting.

"They are working to get jobs and going to vocational school, and to have their lives stopped by gun violence is something that is frustrating and painful," he said.

Glasgow, who grew up in South Philly, says residents are left to clean up the blood and remnants of the shooting as city workers remain on strike.
"We are going to come together and clean it up, but the blood and the trash and the food and the activities that we are supposed to have today for our summer camp, we had to put on pause today," he said.

Mass shooting follows violent weekend in Philadelphia

The shooting in Grays Ferry is the latest shooting during a violent weekend in Philadelphia.
Commissioner Kevin Bethel told Action News that a total of 46 people were shot over the weekend, this includes Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday morning's mass shooting.

Eight people were wounded in a mass shooting early Saturday morning at a South Philadelphia bar on the 1100 block of South 11th Street.
Early Sunday morning, three people were injured in a triple shooting that broke out among a large crowd that was gathered along the 2200 block of Edgley Street in North Philadelphia.

Police are also investigating a quadruple shooting that took place early Monday morning near 62nd and Vine streets.
Anyone with information on any of the shootings can call or text Philadelphia police at 215-686-TIPS (8477) or submit an anonymous tip online.

That's just a shoot out. That's not a mass shooting. It wasn't at a concert or school, so calling it mass is hyperbolic. My bet is this is some sort of gang activity. As usual the government official responsible for this problem is on another planet and can't be reached by facts or reason and is too busy huffing is own fart gas to do anything proactive other than throw some weasel charity at the problem. Why were all those people there so early in the morning? Could this be drug related, like an early morning starbux run?

Isn't Philadelphia one of those places where you are not allowed to buy a Kevlar vest so the police don't have to head shot you? I don't even know how this passes for news. In other news, the sky is blue and it will be raining from time to time. Also don't get shot at a drug house if you don't want people to know you're a loser.

He's youthful, he's very urban, he's known to be a jogger, he's a mostly peaceful protestor, they say he's a teen, he's low income, he's underprivileged... if you know what I'm saying.
And the news crew if they ever show a photo at all will show a photo of back when he was 13 years old.

This is art, especially the guy in the center using that Machine-Pistol like a child handles a stout pressure washer.
For me it’s the dude who just kinda crouches in the middle of the street. Or the dude sitting on the steps who seeming is bopping it at max volume with his earbuds until the dudes on the porch return fire. Or the sheboon diving to the ground trying to twerk her ass lower and out of line of sight. Or the wheelchair dude who is left to fend for himself and scramble behind a car.

It’s a video Accidental Niggerisance.

I don't even know how this passes for news.
You can’t even appreciate a video of black people failing at killing themselves. What is wrong with you? Who hurt you?

At least one of the idiots had a pistol modded to autofire, and clearly could not control the recoil. Which is not surprising because pistols are not designed to spray their mag; there is a reason that properly designed automatic weapons have stocks. Trying to keep your aim on sight with a pistol while firing rapidly is already tricky, it's basically impossible if the thing's firing ten rounds a second. A carbine or rifle is built to be somewhat controlled even at high rates of fire, but a machine pistol is seemingly perfectly designed solely to spray dozens of completely unaimed bullets into as many innocent bystanders as possible. I'm no fan of the ATF, but ghetto trash with machine pistols need to get tossed in a hole.

I smell a felony a'brewin'.

That's a "Glock switch," and it allows Glock model handguns to fire in full-auto. The part itself is classified by the ATF as a machine gun. You as a civilian cannot own this, but these "urban youths" will happily 3D print these and stick them on their pistols willy-nilly.

You can buy them on TEMU or Aliexpress. They literally rename them and resell them. 3D printing is getting gay where they want DRM to block printing certain shit.

JFC you could give a lemur a fucking handgun and it would have better trigger discipline and aim than two of the three shooters on video.

I've also seen fat toads escape into tight spaces with more finesse than some of those girls diving for cover.

I agree with the sentiment of why machine pistols are shit, but this implies they aren't already illegal, and it probably won't stop the likely drug dealers when they set out to homicide each other.

That's literally what mass shootings are.

They qualify hoodrat weekend chimpouts as "mass shootings" to pump statistics up so the media can pretend that 6 gorillion schoolchildren are being gunned down by MAGA chuds on a weekly basis and the CDC can pretend that "gun violence" is a "national pandemic".

What people think most "mass shootings" are: Columbine
What most "mass shootings" actually are:

It's sad to see what has happened to Gray's Ferry. They fought hard not to be ghettoized. I really hate this city sometimes. There's no reason for it to be such a dumpster fire.

It is a big problem here. We've had people shot on buses. It's so bad that every time there's an argument on the bus I fear for my life. Because you never know what's gonna happen. The drivers don't even stop people from getting on without paying because they are afraid of possible violence that can and does happen. Tonight I was looking for the mostly outdoor cat and I overheard some guys a block away yelling about $19. It was getting pretty heated so I called over my cat and we noped the fuck out of there just in case. People have been murdered on that block, the block I moved from two years ago and the block I'm on now.

What a lot of people do not get about the gun violence problem is that is that just because it doesn't happen in your neighborhood does not mean that it isn't a national problem. Because it most certainly is. Don't let some media propaganda steer you away from the fact that there's a very real problem here. There's good people here who can't afford to move out to the Far Northeast away from the bulk of the crime or just out of the city entirely. So they are stuck and have to put up with decaying neighborhoods, open air drug dealing, zombiefied junkies and gun violence.

I don't know what the answer is. But gun violence is bad in many cities and hearing people sweep it under the rug because they think it's some conspiracy to take their guns away just makes me sad. Because this tug of war is never gonna end due to both sides refusing to give up an inch or really listen to each other.

Oh no niggers shooting multiple other niggers in Philadelphia? But Tuesday wasn't for another few hours! Why is nobody patient anymore?

I mean, this is coward, wannabe thug stuff.
No, pretty sure these are actual thugs. Maybe you should spend less time grandstanding and more time apprehending, Mister Police Commissioner. Oh, wait. Philadelphia. Right, carry on, they wont prosecute.
