Spooky time Code of Conduct Updates

Hoi everyone,
I would like to take some time today to notify you all of some recent changes to the
Code of Conduct [wiki.f-list.net].
• Disciplinary Actions: This section has been expanded and reorganized. A section on our Severe Escalation Policy has been added.
This was done to be more transparent about how we handle serious rule violations such as intentional and repeated harassment and most matters which are just about illegal, but not quite.
• Abuse of Site Tools: "Creating more than one account," has been explicitly prohibited.
This has technically always been a violation of the rules, but due to a variety of recent changes and other issues, we felt it was necessary to expressly mention this.
If you are reading this and have more than one account, I would highly recommend consolidating your accounts into a single account and
requesting deletion [wiki.f-list.net] of extraneous accounts. If you are thinking, "but I have more than 150 characters and like 300 eicons on multiple accounts!" Well, congratulations--you've
really been violating those
Abuse of Site Tools rules. If you need more characters, eicon slots, and other such fancy things, I'd recommend becoming a
subscriber through our Subscribestar [subscribestar.adult]--the legal way to circumvent normal site limits!
• Images, Video, and Other Media: several changes have been made here...
1) Overall, the language in this section has been rewritten to reduce redundancy and be more clear to the end-user. "You may not provide access through any means to any of the following (unless otherwise stated as an exception):" has been added as a qualifier for the entire section.
2) "For the purpose of these rules, photo-realistic AI-generated images are considered and treated as real-life photos." has been added as a definition for this section. Technology gonna technology, and we really noticed that people like to use AI to create vaguely illegal pictures.
3)
Quote:
Any high-contrast, animated, flashing images (including eicons/icons) above 3 contrast flashes/frames per second are disallowed.
Has been changed to...
Quote:
Any high-contrast, animated, flashing images (including eicons/icons) above 3 contrast flashes/frames per second (i.e. anything that would trigger epileptic seizures).
This change was made to be more clear as to why this is a rule. Seriously: please don't kill me or anyone else with Epilepsy with your flashing images of cartoon cats dancing from left to right rapidly.
4) So, the section about real-life animal parts and forbidden real-life human-animal relationships has seen some revisions...
Quote:
• Providing access through any means to any media of real-life bestiality or real-life animal genitalia.
• This includes implying such things by associating photos of animals with profiles that contain or allude to sexual content or sexual roleplay actions.
• Exception: Non-photographic art is permissible.
has been changed to...
Quote:
• Any media primarily focused on real-life animal genitalia
• Any media of real-life bestiality, or implying such acts with photos of real-life animals or animal genitalia.
• This includes using real-life photos of animals on a profile with sexual kinks, wherein the primary subject is the animal.
• Exceptions: Non-photographic art
These changes were made in an effort to dole out necessary punishments for content and behaviors that we do not want on our site and those that are illegal in most of the United States; this was always the case in the rules, but... With the previous wording, there were cases such as "a cat being on a bed with a super hot MILF model, but the cat is just kinda there being a cat" or "I have put up this picture of a giant spider web because my character is a Japanese spider chick and I think it's cool, but ah damn--there's a real-life spider somewhere in that mess of web" being moderated unnecessarily. In both of those cases, the context was very much not about the animals (Yes, arachnids are considered animals) and the animals were not referenced in a sexual manner--but per the wording in the previous rules, these were considered rule violations. So... I fixed that.
There has also been an extensive revision of internal policy regarding review and enforcement of these rules, so hopefully this should eliminate cases of unnecessary moderation.
In summation:
Real-life bestiality and randomly posting animal dicks for no reason=bad
Posting photos of real dogs and talking about it in conjunction with your OOC zoophilia that doesn't belong here per our rules on Out-of-Character Violations=doubly bad
Using photos of real horses on a profile about fucking horses=bad
Yvonna Instagrammodelofthemonth's cat being in the background while she's posing in sexy lingerie=OK
Posting a photo of the armadillo your Dwarven Berserker rides, but the profile isn't about fucking the armadillo=OK, but why an armadillo?
5) Very slight change to the rules about streams; the second line has been bulleted under the first line.
Other business: the Canon Characters official channel and other disruption of RP in Official Channels:
In business outside of the Code of Conduct, there were also recent changes to the
Canon Characters official channel's description. This channel has been in-character only for longer than I have been on staff (so, more than 10 years) and Out-of-Character messages of any kind have been forbidden since the creation of the Canon Characters OOC channel. That hasn't been stopping people from making OOC comments or getting into OOC arguments, so the rules were updated to make it quite clear that there is a zero tolerance policy for OOC in the main Canon Characters channel.
I'd also like to take a moment to address this issue in all official channels=the primary purpose of these channels is roleplay. This is a roleplaying site. While we allow people to talk out-of-character when there is a lull in RP, when people start writing out those RP posts, the OOC needs to be reduced or ideally, stopped--especially pointless eicon spam. Have some courtesy for people actually trying to use the site for its intended purpose.
In a closing note, if any of the above changes have resulted in a change to a previous moderation action that you believe should be reconsidered, please let us know. If you have a friend that was banned for having a picture of a cat on their profile about otherwise RPing superstar futbol player, Cristiano Ronaldo (soon to be part of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves), maaaaaaybe push them to send in an appeal via the
offline ticket form [f-list.net]--and pray to the Twelve that they never evaded their ban.
That's it for today. It ended up a little longer than I planned, but I wanted to be thorough--and it's also nearing my bed time, so I am very rambling. Anyway, thanks for reading, and if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me or any other site moderator!
