Also, going by the landscape, the explosion was neatly contained in that valley, so the number of civilians affected by the bomb should range between a hard "0" and "noone".

You'd think that the West would have realised years ago that wars of attrition never end, let alone work. The moab is the best possible chance to break out of attrition and form into even a slightly more effective mode of combat.

That's about right, FAB's like MOAB's are the largest conventional weapon in any fucking arsenal the best way I have heard it described by a general was "All the fun of nukes with non of the mess", i.e. amazingly destructive with no long lasting effects or need for cleanup.

As far as I know, the MOAB isn't actually fuel air, but 11 tons of TNT has a similar effect.

Hah, I'd fooled myself by looking at the wiki page for it where it listed the filler as Compound H6, which is used in torpedos

  • It has ~19,000 pounds of explosives. It's almost as powerful as a nuke!
  • We just launched, not a week ago, 59 Tomahawk missiles with 1000 pound warheads each to the same spot.

So, either people can't count, or they're just full of shit.


Killing people from overpressure is the most horrifying way to die!

  • Secondly, We were dropping Daisy Cutters on similar cave systems under King George the W because it rapidly evacuated the tunnel systems of air. (They originally wanted to try to limit damage to the structures because they had hopes of recovering materials/intelligence.)
  • All anti armor shells rely on overpressure to kill the occupants of enemy armor, how is drowning in your own blood now the worst death imaginable when it hasn't been a problem since the invention of HEAT?

They could have fixed Flint's water problem with the cost of the bomb they just dropped 2.75x over!

Easy mistake to make, the general public tends to forget that there are other explosives than TNT besides your point still stands 11 tonnes of TNT is 11 tonnes of fuck you and the horse you rode in on in any language.

The funniest thing is my mom immediately texted me asking about the bomb and my first reply was it was a FAB.

You know as a decidedly nonamerican I wasn't sold on Trump, I don't like his style of personal branding or the way he carries himself in public but he's a Political Janus and for once that's a very good thing.

But as time goes on I fucking love the guy, because he is willing to place a boot up the collective arse of some very bad people who have needed a boot placing up there backside for a very long time and he's not dancing around the issue either he is seeing things and told things we don't get told or get to see and the man's getting very fucking angry at what he's seeing.

What a lot of these exceptional morons don't seem to realize is that, unlike a nuke, a MOAB is designed to be used in warfare. It generates a big boom, several ISIS militants have their lungs ripped out of their mouths and hopefully, they'll think twice about poking Uncle Sam again.

Nukes are not designed to be used as weapons, they're a diplomatic tool. If we drop one, it's a sign that something has gone very, very wrong. As far as things go, they shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as a MOAB, but because the MOAB generates a big boom, it's obviously just as bad.


Fuck the media for making that connection. It's legitimately scaring people and I'm tired of explaining this difference to people.

he's pretty shit domestically, he's not horrible but decidedly not great internationally. I think he'll improve at his international politics and this is a good sign.

for people in the US he (and more realistically, pence and Ryan) is a bit of a nightmare money pit
