Mary K. Brown reportedly said she hoped to display the foot in her family's taxidermy shop with a sign that said, "Wear your boots, kids."

A Wisconsin nurse has pleaded no contest to negligently abusing a patient after she amputated a man’s foot without his permission.
Mary K. Brown’s plea earlier this week in a Pierce County courtroom means that two felony charges against her will be dismissed: physical abuse of an elder person intentionally causing great bodily harm, and mayhem. She had previously pleaded not guilty.

In May 2022, Brown was employed as a nurse at a senior living home in Spring Valley, where Doug McFarland, 62, was being treated after a fall in his home a few months earlier.
McFarland had contracted severe frostbite in his feet, which both became necrotic, and had reportedly been moved to hospice care, according to ABC affiliate KSTP.

Court documents say that Brown referred to the McFarland’s lower limbs as “mummy feet” and told investigators that she thought amputation would “make the quality of life better for him,” KSTP reported.
Authorities later discovered that Brown had amputated McFarland’s right foot on May 27, 2022, but didn’t get permission from McFarland or his physician beforehand.

According to court documents cited by KSTP, one facility administrator told authorities that while he thought a doctor might have agreed that amputation was necessary, he specifically instructed Brown not to perform the procedure, which was outside the scope of her practice, KSTP reported.
McFarland died days after the amputation.

Brown’s unauthorized amputation came to light after the county medical examiner flagged that McFarland’s foot had been separated from his body.
Brown was charged six months after the incident, and her nursing license was suspended in early 2023. Spring Valley Health and Rehab Center said Brown was no longer employed with the company.

Although Brown claimed that she believed the amputation would ease her patient’s suffering, co-workers suggested she might have had another reason for wanting McFarland’s foot removed from his body.
One nurse reportedly told investigators Brown had mentioned that her family had a taxidermy shop and she wanted to preserve the necrotic foot with a sign reading “Wear your boots, kids.”

“When I found out, I pretty much lost it,” McFarland’s sister Heidi McFarland told KSTP. “He had a heart of gold and he was a phenomenal artist,” she said of her brother.

Brown will not serve any time for the crime, but will have to pay $443 in court costs, KSTP reported.

I’m always scared of something like this. I can only imagine…

“I need you to check my ass for cancer.”
“You mean cum in your ass?”
“…no! I -“
“You want the entire block to sodomize you?”
“NO!”
“You are now saying you want the entire city of Lisbon inside your ass? Well, if that’s what you want.”

And you know that shit still won’t be as painful as what they bill you for after.

The fact she did it to steal his body parts is fucking disturbing. With this shit, people being harassed about organ donation, and that one guy who was fighting to not be cut open while a nurse was sobbing as some fucking suit DEMANDED she cut him open to take his organs (Low IQ niggers in the comments laughed cuz she was crying being screamed at calling her fragile but sure as shit wouldn't be if it was them on the chopping block, because they were DEMANDING she cut into him while he was FIGHTING AND MURMURING, TRYING TO INDICATE HE'S FULLY ALIVE AND CONSCIOUS) EDIT: His name is Anthony Thomas Hoover, from Kentucky.

Good fucking luck trying to convince the public hospitals are anything more than fucking chop shops. And the US healthcare system has the audacity to steal your body parts then rape you in the ass with bills afterwards.

And people wonder why there's sympathy for a guy like Luigi.

Putting a human body on display in whole or in part should always have some sort of dignity or respect. Kind of reminds me of what happened to Elmer McCurdy, which is a fascinating but extremely fucked up story.

Meanwhile crematoriums aren't allowed to cut deathfats into pieces to prevent the whole damn crematorium burning down (yes people who are like 400lbs are so damn fat they ignite and burn the fucking building down) under "desecration of a corpse" despite the fact it will all be ash anyway, but she expected this to fly.

I have heard of deathfats setting a crematorium on fire, but morticians and MEs cut up or otherwise mutilate a corpse as well. There has to be a way of "properly" cutting up deathfats as to prevent fires, like performing a liposuction without much worry of hitting internal organs, or something along those lines. Cutting long strips off like shawarma, yeah I can see why someone might have a problem with that.

How the fuck is this not aggravated assault, GBH and practising medicine without a license?
I mean, leaving aside the potential for manslaughter, if his death could be provably related to shock, trauma or sepsis from the operation?
What the fucking fuck, Wisconsin?

I mean, maybe she ate it.
Taxidermy shop my ass, that fat bitch was gonna EAT that foot.
She could wash it down with a sourtoe cocktail

This is a very real fear if you live abroad. Because of the language barrier you have no real idea what your in for until they get to it. Sit down thinking your getting a light cavity filling, suddenly the guy starts injects numbing agent thoughout your whole mouth grinding down your whole molar.

Here’s a question, how the fuck did he get frostbite if he was spending a few months in a care home?
I think we know why. And that’s probably the same reason this shit isn’t being pursued too.
Don’t get old and dependent if you don’t trust your family guys.

Reading between the lines, he had a fall at his home and got frostbite before being found. Then they moved him to the care home, where his foot got cut off by a fat white middle class cuntoid, ironically validating his desire to live independently to begin with.

Jesus christ, where can I read about this?

Fuck, that's horrid. Glad he was finally laid to rest.

Also, slight power level: Members of my family are traditionally nurses who take care of the elderly and this has my blood fucking boiling.

I've half a mind to take myself off the fucking donor list. A lot of medical professionals say they're not registered for a reason. People try to say this "almost never happens" but even once is reprehensible. I feel bad for people who need organs through no fault of their own (not disgustingly obese, not on drugs/alcohol, didn't destroy their liver through tylenol suicide attempt) but I'm not about to risk them cutting me open to HARVEST ME LIKE WE'RE IN FUCKING CHINA. And sure, he was a druggie (which makes me wonder why they decided to take them at all) but fuck me nobody deserves this because some greedy fucker totally removed from the process wants his check. Also I'm now fully convinced that for all the talk of "it's totally just donation, no money is made" somebody somewhere is getting paid at the cost of your guts.

When people say "amputated a foot at bedside on a whim," they naturally think about someone cutting off their own healthy feet. This was more like that dead foot falling off in the famous Krokodil video, except not as wet because it mummified instead of being wrapped in a plastic bag.

Regardless, spontaneously cutting off dry necrotic body parts is such an asshole move: it's assault, and it's not even doing anything to help the patient! If it's really dead it's not feeling pain, and in a hospice patient that's the goal.

Pretty much everyone has helped a patient remove a sock/shoe and had a black toe painlessly come off with it. She could have just waited.

One nurse reportedly told investigators Brown had mentioned that her family had a taxidermy shop and she wanted to preserve the necrotic foot with a sign reading “Wear your boots, kids.”
Secondhand gossip isn't a smoking gun. This is an amazing line, and it's made it into every news article, but it's not a proven statement or motive.

Could easily be shop talk; when there's a really gigantic poop, people always say they're going to swaddle it and take it to the nursery, but nobody actually does it.
