There's sectarian murders and revenge killings all over Syria right now, including Damascus. That's why she hears small volleys of gunfire in her livestreams, only a couple shots from one gun instead of multiple people shooting at each other. Think targeted assassination vs full gang battle.

The street vendor and other people she's filming have to worry every day about the risks they face just doing business with the public in a lawless violent shithole...and here she is "tee-hee!" filming them out the car window. The implications of filming random people in public are much different than when she did it in Canada or Thailand.

Her car is also moving slowly in traffic, so she and Salah can't even get away if violent people storm that car to get her phone or rob her. Even as stupid as Salah is, I'm surprised he can't see why this is a bad idea.

You'll be a few degrees off but there's a quick conversion trick. For Celsius to Fahrenheit multiple by 2 and then add 30. For Fahrenheit to Celsius subtract 30 then divide by 2. Not perfect but good enough in most situations where you're just talking about the weather.

If it's anything over 75F/25C, using 25 instead of 30 is far more accurate because of the way Celsius gets weird when temps are extreme.

This is a good point. I also want to add that in countries like Syria, a white person filming or taking photos is often looked at with contempt, because they assume (often correctly) the person filming them is going to use their image to profit off poverty porn. Some locals can get very angry and will stop cars and demand the person delete the photos. The ones who stop cars are often armed. She is out of her league here.

That's a great point. They warn you even in some rural areas of Asia that the locals get offended if you carelessly photograph them in the background of your tourist photos. It doesn't have to be a dangerous country for white tourists to get themselves in some shit with their pics.

It's not even an exotic "rural Asia" thing. You can get your ass severely beaten if you try filming any of a large number of homeless encampments in American or Canadian metropolises. People anywhere don't like cameras in their faces, and if they are in a rotten mood because of their circumstances, nothing could brighten their day more than punching out a twirpy YouTuber. So sure, her camera can get her in oodles of trouble in Syria. It is one of several things that could turn the locals against her.

I was curious and didn't want to read a bunch of pubmed articles, but at a quick glance seems some of her fatty organs may still be used somewhere at a back alley clinic in Damascus. She wasn't deported from Kuwait, she just bought a one-way plane ticket and left. She's never been legally kicked out of a country (yet). Canadians can stay in the US for up to 6 months.

Both the US and Canada will refuse entry to people with jail records and suspected criminals or terrorists. But simply having been to Syria is unlikely to place her on a watch list. Her Kuwait legal shit was funny but not a big deal by American standards.

She could have afforded US Beeze at the absolute cheapest midwest roadside motels up until maybe a year ago? But her current monthly income won't cover a month's travel with hotel rooms anywhere but the cheapest 3rd world countries. She could come to the US if a VIB gave her free lodging.

I'm ignorant on arab culture but I believe in places like Syria and Morocco there are hammams, which are public bathhouses. Judging from this old blog post it seems like it's common for women to be nude in these saunas as a form of "social gathering for locals" and a tourist trap for foreigners. I can only imagine the reaction of the local women if Chantal ever decided to join them butt naked.
