DC Comics Multimedia General - A crisis of infinite fuck ups

The thing with the Hawkgirl killing Notenyahu for me is that they have the whole gag with Superman rubbing the dude up against a cactus threatening him not to fuck with the Palestinians

According to Notenyahu that didn't actually happen (it probably did) but I think a lighter and more fun comeuppance for that character would've been a cactus scene.

To be honest, knowing James Gunn's sensibilities, it almost certainly would have been Putinyahu getting a cactus up his ass.
I think we were spared.

Also, do cactuses even grow in the Middle East? I associate them much more with American deserts. I admit, I could be wrong.

There are succulents. Some of which have spines. So yes, there are cacti native to the Middle East. Some actually of the Cactaceae family. But if you're talking big tall dildo ones, and from the context of anal penetration I presume you are, then no. I don't believe so.

Of course this doesn't preclude that Hawkgirl could stick an Aloe Vera plant up someone's posterior, but that may not be what you were visualising.

If anything, the way Moner is going with the latina expiry, she’s more likley to eat it instead of putting it inside a jew.

Gurl getting chunky (and that’s a good thing)

I didn't know who Moner was as I haven't paid that much attention to the casting and apparently she goes by a different name now professionally? But I know now and you're telling me that this tiny woman on the right in this pic is Hawkgirl?

Chalk another up for the redhead replacement list, I guess. But ignoring that, I looked her up. The actress is 5'1" and looks it. Hawkgirl???

I like the logic of instead of using your perfect superman clone that's perfectly obedient to defame superman by committing atrocities, you instead break into his secret lair, hack into his computer then use a message he never heard himself to do things he has never come close to doing to defame him.

This was the plan of the super mega genius who has no problem committing horrible atrocities?

Just saw Superman… it was mid as hell.

Also, I was actually shocked by how blatant the pro-Palestine message was. This is a major blockbuster film that is doing the work of pro-Hamas radicals. Unbelievable Warner Bros were okay with this!
I guess it was subtle enough that no one made a fuss during production. With it now released and the parallels being noticed on social media, WB might start getting nervous.

There are loads of unfinished and rushed pieces of CGI in the film. Some of the lava and fire effects look like Playstation 2 era graphics. This movie just looks like a mess of nonsense. Unprofessional even. Maybe they sent out some wrong copies where the effects are pixelated and not every theater is getting them as that has happened before. But I can't imagine that this movie was heavily screened and no one pointed out the inconsistent lighting or special effects.
Yeah the “pocket universe” had hilariously bad CGI, it looked like the fucking Minecraft movie.

Well, he wanted to wreck the Fortress of Solitude anyway and apparently has been tracking it for awhile. Personally I took it as Lex going there for other things and rather he just happened to find this. It wasn't really part of his plan yet, he just saw an opportunity he couldn't pass up. However, that raises an entire question of why he didn't do that AFTER opinions of Superman were already in the gutter to really seal the deal, but I guess by that point he got what he wanted anyway and there was no need.

What I guess really bugs me is that from Lex's perspective...He's 100% right. Superman was sent down to conquer them. Just because he didn't do that, doesn't invalidate Lex's hatred for him and genuine concern. He could turn on them at any moment and he just intervened in geopolitics, meaning he's absolutely willing to interfere in these matters. The government was entirely wrong and should've placed restrictions on Superman a long time ago. Heck, Jor-El's message even raises a good point. What if Superman DID have children? From Lex's perspective he has no reason to believe a son or daughter should inherit Superman's sense of righteousness. It's entirely possible one of Superman's offspring could and would maybe hear that message and rebel against his dad and try to the conquer the earth because "Fuck Dad" and all.

I didn't really think about it from Lex's POV before. Fuck, that message not being fake really snaps the movie in two. I guess this is what happens when you turn Superman into Goku.

Okay, so there's no Superman/James Gunn/DCU thread so here we go:

I saw a cam rip of the new Superman. It was pretty bad. It was a weird camrip because whenever possible the editor would use footage that was released to the public and sync that with the audio from the camrip. This is how I realized roughly 25% of the movie has already been released to the public.

Anyway, big disappointment. Gunn fans, it's over. The experiment didn't work. I predict this will bomb and be the end of the DCU and probably Superman in general. It might be better this way: make Superman a side character in more interesting stories.

But I think that's all she wrote. I hope Gunn returns to making sicko weird indie movies again.

Superman is doing well.

The real question is whether or not the next projects will do well. Next up is Peace Maker season 2, filled by the Green Lantern show and finally Supergirl. While I would like to trust Gunn, that is a pretty shitty lineup in terms of keeping momentum into the next year.

Peace Maker is whatever… Who cares

Lanterns seems like it will be a massive missed opportunity given that it is an Earth based series where clearly Hal is going to be pushed out for John. Maybe it will be fine, but the concept gives off a worse case-scenario, forgoing the tons of story potential of making Lantern space based or using Hal in later projects.

Supergirl is based on a controversial storyline, but arguably has the most appeal. Will have to wait and see.

So CorenSupes should have been dropped on his head when he was a baby?

Except that Lex isn’t worried about Superman ruling over Earth. He’s jealous that Superman is better than him. If the Kal’s parents requested that he build a small garden on Earth, Lex would twist that to claim Superman is terraforming the Earth.

I do love Hoult’s portrayal of Lex Luthor. Such a confident egotist that you don’t realize he’s fucking mad. He built a pocket universe to house monkeys that post negative comments about Superman on social media. To paraphrase the Venture Bros, “he built an empire to house the machine to kick his ass!”.

I liked it, it was like an episode of the cartoon. Yes, it was a dumb plot, but Superman isn’t known for complex stories. Also hilarious that people see an aggressive military force and immediately find a allegory to Israel, even though the story doesn’t have an allegory to the Israel-Palenstine conflict. Seeing Ben Shapiro seethe over this movie is very telling

Well is a bit of an overstatement. Fine is more accurate. The American box office is good, but overseas numbers started out poor and have been dropping. It’ll probably make its budget back and turn a decent profit, but it won’t be the knockout success that WB wants. How WB execs react to this given how delusional they are will be interesting to see.

I have to agree with @BrunoMattei that it won’t get to a billion. It’s opening lower than both Minecraft and Lilo and Stitch and neither of them passed a billion, and the former had one of the best word of mouth campaigns in a long time.

every episode of Creature Commandos had a tragic backstory that was supposed to make you feel something.
I have no faith there will be consequences to them for making this decision.
Wait a minute, he repeated the head of state assassination plot point this quickly? God damn the lack of geopolitical aftermath makes this world feel hollow just as its starting.

"Assassination?" No, no, dear boy, it's nothing so thoughtful as that.

Hawkgirl just drops the Jew-coded Boravian president from a vast height, presumably smearing him all over the landscape, pretty much on a whim.

You're not wrong in that the world feels totally hollow, though.

MoS and Returns were both “fine” as well in terms of returns, Superman has to be the next big thing to justify the investment. WB is just as retarded as they were back then.

In their eyes, this will be a disappointment.
