By not actually caring beyond what is worthy of rage-bait and the clout associated with calling people out over it.How can you be obsessed with optics and publicly totally okay with raping small helpless animals at the same time?
This one is the most likely. FD is a mid size con that only attracts locals. They probably overestimated their own growth when the appeal of that cons is its one of the few northeastern cons during the summer. That and North Eastern furries are the most insular group you could imagine. The original block did sell out, but they overestimated how much interest the extension would get.
Out of curiosity, is there any particular reason why they're so insular? I find the regional differences/manifestations of the broader fandom to be quite interesting. The Texan/southwestern scene (at least on the surface) appears to be much more gregarious and outwardly-focused.This one is the most likely. FD is a mid size con that only attracts locals. My theory? Nepotism, plain and simple.Out of curiosity, is there any particular reason why they're so insular?

If you compare staff lists between northwestern and western U.S. conventions, there’s a massive overlap. Numerous furries work across two or more events, including Further Confusion, Biggest Little Furry Con, Pacific Anthropomorphics Weekend, Galactic Camp, and Rainfurrest. They’re all guilty of the same closed-circle staffing.
PAW is especially egregious, simply because it was born as a “fuck you” con aimed at Further Confusion, and it’s entirely staffed by people already entrenched in those other conventions.
This nepotism bleeds into their ban lists, too. If you’re banned from one, chances are you’ll be automatically banned from all of them. In theory, that might sound like a smart safety net. In practice, it’s led to multiple situations where someone in charge just starts banning people they don’t personally like, without due process, recourse, or even a clear explanation.
Without naming names, I know of at least one event where the owner is infamous for banning people over increasingly petty reasons. [CANNOT RECIPROCATE BUT AM SURE THERE ARE EXAMPLES]

It's very likely to be true. Somehow the people with power in conventions always end up being a bunch of babyfur diaper shitters that collude to fuck over anyone that is uncomfortable with their extremes. There's absolutely a lot of nepotism going on.If you compare staff lists between northeastern and eastern U.S. conventions, there’s a massive overlap. I mean, I won’t stop you if you want to write an essay on it. This is pretty fascinating con/scene anthropology lmao. The southern/southwesterners being more sunny in disposition but keeping burn books on each other sounds pretty fitting. I think the Texas scene in particular is becoming its own beast - no pun intended - because there are so many cons within the Texas Triangle. DFW, Austin, San Antonio and Houston all have their own smallish to large cons.Yeah, I could right an entire essay on this but a lot of if is alot of groups would form then a pedo/rapist/zoophile would get outed. Then it also is because the North East especially New Englanders can be very reserved and warry of outsiders.
I do enjoy the west coast and southern furs more even if they come with their kwn baggage like the fact they all keep burn books on each other for blackmail.
log offThis is pretty fascinating con/scene anthropology lmao.
Doesn't the Bible have a part about sex with animals being a stone-able no-no?He is also nominally Christian, which I'm sure is inherently fascistic to many furries.
These sorts of discussions are why this website exists. I'll gladly read your psychogeography of Texas furs.I mean, I won’t stop you if you want to write an essay on it. This is pretty fascinating con/scene anthropology lmao.
The "nominally" is doing the heavy lifting there. Though any Christian would agree that God's forgiveness is open to him if he were truly repentant, his continued public goonerism throws his sincerity into doubt.Doesn't the Bible have a part about sex with animals being a stone-able no-no?
It forbids faggotry too, but we see how well that's turned out so far.Doesn't the Bible have a part about sex with animals being a stone-able no-no?
Because troons. They loved masks because it helped them disguise their face. Sure enough, the "co-chairs" for the convention are married and "Flint" is an FtM.ANE updated their medical policy for 2026.
Masks still required, LMFAO, you can't make this shit up. Why is ANE the only furry con still requiring this? "ohh we take place in the winter" So do a ton of other cons. That shit should have been optional years ago.
ugly people can literally always wear masks, they've done it long before covid when medical masks were a cool delinquent symbolBecause troons. They loved masks because it helped them disguise their face. Sure enough, the "co-chairs" for the convention are married and "Flint" is an FtM.
That's my theory anyway.
