African-American Appreciation Thread - Highlighting contributions from our most productive citizens

So just to make sure I have this correct: Karmelo and the Metcalf twins go to different schools. There was some sort of pool party at some point in the past where neither party knows the other, and it's unknown if the twins were at this party. Karmelo's dick is allegedly seen through his shorts, and all the girls start singing about it, and this somehow gets to the Metcalf twins' school, and they somehow begin bullying a guy they don't know, who doesn't go to their school, because he has a big dick. Poor Karmelo is so distraught at word spreading around about his big dick that he finds Austin, a kid he doesn't know, from a school he doesn't go to at the track meet , and stabs him in self defense when Austin's bullying turns physical instead of verbal.

This is so fucking retarded. I fucking hate these people.
this is why you don't teach kids "everyone who bullies you is just jealous of you" some of them believe that shit

That's a trick they stole from the Italians, because niggers can't even invent new ways of committing crimes.
Well...

I just wanted to share this memory I recalled at like 3am. My childhood best friend was Mormon and one of her brothers was a cool, witty dude who played bass. He made up a song to the tune of 'Green Acres," and I can only remember the first verse, but omg those Mormons are not shy about how they feel about our melanin-enriched friends:

Black Acres is the place to be,
Cotton picking is the life for me!
Watermelon spread so far and wide,
Skin that chicken and cook it up country-fried.

Dadada da dat dada da da ....

"You are my slave!"
"Don't hit me so hard!!"

Black Acres mighty fiiiinnne!!!

I credit my friend's brother but back in the 70's/80's who knows the true origination? Lmao.

I don't recall them having 400 years to catch up to civilization
The part you're missing is: their society was clearly separated into a low-IQ/low-impulse-control majority, and a high-IQ minority that quite literally carried the burden of caretaking them. Sound familiar?

The genius of the story is that we as humans cannot tell these two groups apart just by looking at them. If we could - if the dumb ones were all pink, and the smart ones were all blue, then all the same excuses from human culture could be brought to bear.

"Pinkness is just skin deep! Stop discriminating!" - "Pink is a social construct!" - "Your racism against the pinks is what causes them to behave that way!"

That would severely derail the story that the film is trying to tell. So instead, even though these two groups clearly exist, we have no way to distinguish them and the movie never even names them!

We see only two members of the high-IQ group. Christopher, and his son. Christopher has been working all these years to repair the ship. He has some of the low-IQ group helping him, but they are literally so fucking retarded, there's a scene where he has to keep reminding it that human technology doesn't have the black goo in it. This poor guy can't even get an assistant that's smart enough to hold that simple fact in his brain!

So when you say, "they haven't had 400 years to catch up" ...you're forgetting that they've had much longer than that on their own planet.

District 9 was obviously an intended commentary for condemning apartheid in South Africa
If that's the case, it did a piss-poor job of it. The prawns are not "the good guys." When allowed among humans, they rob and murder us. The street interviews with locals make that clear.

Then the film cuts to a white (presumably liberal) man excusing their behavior! Here's a quote: "What for an alien might be seen as something recreational, setting fire to a truck, derailing a train, is for us obviously an extremely destructive act."

Sound familiar? It's exactly like the excuses that white liberals make for black behavior! "They just don't understand; come on you guys!"

And remember, humans didn't force them to live in squalor. When their ship arrived, and when they were eventually brought down to the surface, the whole world was united and committed to give them whatever they needed. But they turned out to be worse than blacks!

If anything, I think the film is a satire of naive liberal belief that we can all just get along. Segregation is clearly needed. Apartheid is the correct answer to the prawn question, as depicted in the movie.

Please, no such movie with that message would ever be allowed to be made. You take away that message because you've woken up to the realities of race relations. However 99% of normies will never get that message. The movie ends with Christopher promising to come back and turn the Wikus back into a human. It literally ends on a "if humans (whites) would be tolerant and accepting, the prawns (blacks) would be civilized" message.

You have a point about more than 400 years. IIRC the plot they were specifically all entirely supposed to be the lower intelligence caste as none of them could even figure out how to exit the craft (except maybe Christopher?), they had no leadership or social structure. It's been a while I may have the details wrong there.

That's my point, the person who lacks independent thought sees something resembling apartheid or social imbalance and they can't process past "apartheid=bad". A nice selling point to have a woke political message for Hollywood. The independent thinking types hear the minor lines you mention and realize the Prawns are not civilized enough to be part of society so you either have to segregate them or kill them. And yes "Christopher" is the outlier as far as higher intelligence and morals. You have to wonder about the fact his goal is clearly defined he wants to take all the Prawns and leave earth. Not assimilate or conform to cultural standards but just leave.

That's why I have the theory Blomkamp hid the message apartheid wasn't an ethical decision as much as it was just simply necessary. I can't recall him making any statement it was politically referencing anything. Openly stating this theory I have as correct would have destroyed any commercial success the film had.

I agree ...if the message was clear to (((hollywood)))

But what you're forgetting is that hollywood is so dumb, they have to beat us over the head with their narratives. They have to scream it from a bullhorn. They don't understand subtlety at all. Why would you think they could detect subtlety in a script?

Idiocracy slipped under their radar. It did this simply by depicting dumb white people. I'm inclined to believe District 9 slipped by as well.

If it put subtlety aside - if there was dialog in the film where Wikus says, "wow Christopher! You're a really smart prawn! You're the first one I've ever met! I was wondering how these retards built a spaceship but it's clear they didn't - it's clear now that you're a member of a high-IQ minority that can build spaceships, and that you're saddled with the care of this retard majority! Wow, Christopher, that reminds me a lot of the problem we have here on Earth! You know, we whites have spent TRILLIONS trying to help the blacks ...just like you probably spent trillions on this space ship. But LOLOL it never changes them amirite? LOLOL We have so much in common!!"

...then yes, the movie would never get maid. But that dialog isn't in the film even though it accurately describes the situation. I'm inclined to believe that nobody in hollywood understood it.

Particularly because this:
It literally ends on a "if humans (whites) would be tolerant and accepting, the prawns (blacks) would be civilized" message.
isn't true at all!! Seriously, quote dialog from the movie that you feel represents that message.

Keep in mind, the film shows us street interviews by people who live with the prawns saying, "they take your shoes and then they kill you" followed immediately by naive white liberal scientists saying, "well, you have to understand, their culture is different and they don't understand that this is wrong."

You can't choose to pick just one of those - just the naive liberal making excuses - and say "that's the message of the movie" when the movie just showed you two very different viewpoints.

Very well said. I agree.

District 9 is a great film, and the ending with our MC talking about his wife being a literal angel and her playing with the scrap flower he left on the doorstep after being prawned, and then the scene of him in the scrap yard making one fucking gets me.

Fuckin worthelss xenos. Should have just nuked them from orbit and been done with it.

i had to rewatch the second time and i just noticed who he kicked at first

is that a kid? hard to tell but can't be older than like 6 right?
good god man who dropkicks an elementary schooler
Can't confirm if true, but I read his mom went on the Internet and defended him, saying he wasn't trying to kick the kid, he would never kick a little kid, he was only trying to kick the woman and the kid got on the way so it was an accident.

The small ship is shown detaching from the large one at the start.

iirc the movie is supposed to be a metaphor for South Africa getting flooded with illegals from Botswana/Zimbabwe/Mozambique.

I think my cat sat on my phone when jumping on me for cuddles and must have accidentally managed to make a post or something. I didnt even notice this until I realised I had notifications. Normally I manage to get the phone out from under her and lock my screen before she presses a bunch of stuff but I must have been less vigilant than normal. Sorry for the confusing post. Either that happened, or my cat was trying to communicate her nigger fatigue unsuccessfully. I wonder if she has overheard too many arrest videos...

I think the housing says it all. Non-descript, plain. Non-existent front yard and despite that its unkept. No decoration on house or the walkway. No individuality marking this unit from the next. No flower beds, let alone flowers. No bushes even. As basic as "poor the slab, and slap it together, and on to the next one, boys!" Like it was built yesterday. Type of place you can't leave anything outside less it walk off.
