(Sorry if this is the wrong section, but I thought Q&A was for shitposts)

Here's what I recall: It happened in the 2000s or maybe the early 2010s, and it was about this athletic person who was taking medication for some issue. She (I think it was a she) went to the hospital for some reason (an accident, I think?) and while the doctors investigated that, they also found out about her prescription and the issue it was for. Controversially though, they said "she doesn't really have that issue" and wound up revoking her prescription, which led to her getting sick and maybe dying.

I recall it was a huge thing for awhile and sparked this whole debate about patient's rights and whether or not the doctors overstepped their boundaries or something.

But I can't remember the names of anyone involved.

Does anyone here know who I'm talking about? Does anyone else remember something like this?

Never heard of it. Here's one I remember though. George W Bush was in the UK in, I think, 2002 or 2003, and made the mistake of walking in front of a hotel window in his boxers. The images made it as far as the internet but the story they were in was quickly deleted and the images lost to time. Does anyone out there remember, or even have a copy of, the Bush in his undies story?

Was this a real news story or are you just shitposting?

If this was real, yeah I kinda wanna know too.

(the one I mentioned in the OP was real--at least, I really do remember there being an event like that).

I don't remember that, but I do remember the time Dick Cheney was candidly photographed eating some ice cream, or something like that, and his giant hog was clearly visible pressing into his pant leg.

Pretty easy to find: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/3842335.stm
There doesn't seem to be a photo though.
I can relate personally, as I have remembered old news stories like that, specifically one related to John Kerry, which I am unable to find.

Speaking of lost news, it was sometime in 2001, in the later half of the year I think. A couple of planes crashed into some buildings in a major US city. I can't remember which one, nobody ever talks about it. Anyone remember this?

was this related to fenfen
I don't believe so. It wasn't a weight loss drug. I think it was some sort of painkiller or something to manage a blood disorder.

The woman was athletic and IIRC on track to be in the Olympics, but when she got taken off her meds she was suffering so bad she could barely get out of bed because it turned out the thing she was on meds for in the first place was actually real.

It wasn't supposed to be, but mfers ruined it.
They're ruining this thread too. I'm trying to be okay with the shitposts because they're at least keeping the topic bumped, but it does annoy me that I asked a serious question and people are like "hey lets post memes!"

I'm not sure. It wasn't that Olympian that went missing and was later found dead in her home? I can't remember her name. But I remember she was several months pregnant and no one knew. She also had some sort of health problem and had gone reclusive. That's the closest thing I recall and that may not be who you are thinking of. It was a big news story though.

Real.

edit: The article posted afterwards at least explains how they managed to taksies backsies the images. Which is a shame, I wish, wish, wish I had saved and then reposted them.

Don't know sorry but I often wonder about all the happenings that have been forgotten or not put on the internet, things you would only know if you lived through it.

Reminds me of the Volleyball Incident, though this seems to be real.

No but it kinda happened to me. I was forced to switch insurance companies and the new one didn't believe I had IBS. Why would I pretend to have eternal diarrhea? Well, they thought I was lying, bragging about my ass-spraying powers, and that all my previous doctors were in on it too. So my prescriptions were revoked, and sudden withdrawal from one of my IBS medications basically gave me MS (symptomatically speaking), and now I'm in constant all-consuming pain.

(This isn't PLshit because nobody irl knows this about me.)

Boris Yeltsin was inhuman levels of sauced when he landed in Ireland and refused to leave the airplane. The prime minister (Taoiseach) of Ireland Albert Reynolds had cancelled his trip to Europe to be present to meet him, and suggested that he may meet Yeltsin on board, but this was refused. It was later explained that he had "overslept" and was also "unwell", later writing to Reynolds apologizing for that "unfortunate mishap."

If you're too pissed to meet the Irish, you have a problem.
