DC Comics Multimedia General - A crisis of infinite fuck ups

I like the logic of instead of using your perfect superman clone that's perfectly obedient to defame superman by committing atrocities, you instead break into his secret lair, hack into his computer then use a message he never heard himself to do things he has never come close to doing to defame him.

This was the plan of the super mega genius who has no problem committing horrible atrocities?
From Lex's POV, he isn't defaming Superman, he's exposing the truth about him. It would be easier for him to frame Superman, or kill Superman, or just ignore Superman altogether, but none of those scratch the particular itch he has, which is to prove to everyone else that he's right and Superman is wrong. He is undone by being a neurotic nutjob with dumb, petty goals.

Also, Damon Wayans might sue:

the fact Kryptonians are more fucked up wouldnt bother me, if Supergirl didnt exist. My problem is moreso, if they know each other well enough for him to dog sit, why has she never told him what their culture was like? I think it's sort of interesting that's probably why she has such an issue adjusting to Earth. But it shouldn't be any surprise to Clark because she'd probably have told him when they met how different attitudes are here with some specific examples.
Now that you mention it, I don't see how that's ever going to make sense. That message fragment can't be the only thing Superman knows about his parents if he's hanging out with his cousin.

Having superman laser babies or something does that far more effectively.

Any half way non retarded person is going to ask if superman is a conquerer why has he been doing nothing but helping us since he got here?

I liked Supergirl in The Flash. Maybe it was just a drowning rat grabbing on to a piece of trash that floats, but I thought she gave a great performance and had character. This Kara feels like it's trying to capture what vapid people like about Slut Harley Quinn.
Apparently the upcoming Supergirl movie is based off of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, where Kara constantly drinks to forget the trauma of watching Krypton die.

I haven’t watched The Flash to know if Sasha Calle’s Supergirl would make sense for keep for that.

I liked her a lot as well. I saw her more as Superwoman than the Kara Supergirl. But assessed independently both the character and the actresses' portrayal of her was great. A lot of people here were pretty down on her when she was cast based on her looks but turned out pretty great - happy to be wrong. Also, there was a lot of inspiration taken from Synder for her scenes.

But all that said...

No. From everything I've read about the Superman movie and the Supergirl spin-off, you couldn't marry up the characters. You can't separate The Flash movie's Supergirl from her traumatic background or serious demeanor. The actress could play a more cheerful, recoving version of her I'm sure but the backgrounds of the two characters are just wildly apart.

1A! 1A! 1A! 1A! 1A!

...was kind of stupid, really. I think Hoult is a fine actor, but he didn't come across as very clever. He did the classic Dr. Evil of just telling Kal his entire secret plan while he was imprisoned, and monologuing his personality during the fight. Those choices don't seem very Lex-like.

I'm not an avid comic book reader, but Luthor struck me as a pragmatic, Machiavellian thinker, which is not the kind of Lex we got in the movie. Figuring out his plan should be a little harder than him blurting it out to everyone, and upon his arrest I wouldn't think he'd have a little cry about it - he'd just be thinking about his emancipation and how to get there. He wouldn't care if everyone called him a traitor; he's smarter than all of them by his own logic, and they don't understand the full extent of his plans.
Shit, Luthor should have hooked Ultraman to an Xbox Kinect and he'd have better control over him than yelling a bunch of code at his code (not technically) monkeys.

Now, it's been said that authors can't write people smarter than them and that sounds like that's what happened with Lex. Instead of writing him like an evil Tony Stark where he has clearly defined limitations that his genius pushes against, he's the belief of the Wizard of Oz where he can magic up plot devices. And apparently whoever is tardwrangling him (Zaslav? Who else has authority over him?) also isn't that smart, so it gets Rise of Skywalker kinds of edits so now it's a mess. And unlike the Synder Cut, I seriously doubt there will be demand for the 4 hour version of this movie.

Channels like Midnight Edge need a thread? Holy shit he is sucking off James Gunn like no tomorrow. He’s ignoring the obvious Gaza shit in Superman and James Gunn brother saying Superman is an anti-MAGA movie. Midnight Edge unironically using the same argument Disney adults and journalists use to defend MCU and Disney Star Wars movies and show underperforming. Midnight Edge, Kino casino and Yellow flash Superman not woke narrative based around Lex Luthor isn’t Trump. Nigga he’s still an obvious Elon Musk stand in. Including owning not twitter.
Strictly my opinion, but Midnight's Edge stan for Zaslav specifically. They see him as the Trump of the studio entertainment world where they believe he's the business-minded push back against woke entertainment. Which, TBF, Zaslav is the one that cancelled Batgirl on those grounds. The problem is, they don't want him to fail because it would expose Zaslav as an idiot CEO and woke media will regain momentum.

While I'll agree that Zaslav isn't woke, that doesn't mean he's smart or has a vision, seeing as how he delegated everything to James Gunn assuming that Gunn's track record will create billion dollar movies. Zaslav strikes me as more of a Reverse Bob Iger where he has a shallow understanding of the product he's selling, delegated it with someone who has great numbers behind him, but isn't actually suited for this specific project. Iger did it with JJ and Zaslav did it with Gunn.

Damn. I also remember seeing the clip of her finding out she got the role and she seemed so excited for it, too.

Sucks she joined right when they were putting the DCEU down like a sick dog and had the double whammy of dealing with Ezra Miller.

She seems like she’d play a good Hawkgirl. Especially since Jason Momoa got recasted as Lobo, I wonder if James Gunn considered it before choosing Isabela Merced.

Reviews for Superman seem to be all over the place, but it at least seems more positive than the Snyder stuff was. I was on the fence about seeing it but I'll give it a shot this week. I have nothing to base this on, but I'm wondering if some people want to like the movie more than they actually do, just because capeshit movies have been dog shit for a while. I saw a lot of "I really hope it turns out good" in the lead up to release.

Also someone needs to get Gunn a PR guy to vet everything he says because goddamn he shoots himself in the foot every time he opens his mouth.

Watched it. It was fine. It wasn't Good, or Great, or Amazing, it was just fine. Many flaws, but Superman himself was done right I think.

When Lex was confessing to him all he'd done and why, did anyone else think about Mr Terrific having talked about tracker nanos he'd put in Superman earlier in the film recording his entire scheme for exposure later? I was thinking that would come up as part of what crucifies him, but no, it's just what Jimmy, Perry and Lois have published. As well, when the Hammer of Boravia returns to Lexcorp, all I could think was What About US Govt Satellites?

Whatever, I'll watch a sequel. Disappointed that Engineer was a Lex creation and pointless as fuck. Ugly as shit design too. I know Silver Surfer is gonna be in the theaters in the same month, but goddamn, you could've at least given me my Chrome Asskicker with pewpew hands.

If Zaslav is supposed to be anti-woke, he's doing a bad job at it. While he shelved Batgirl, Velma still happened under his watch along with Harley Quinn having more seasons. Plus you have the woke rhetoric in Creature Commandos and Sinners.

Midnight's Edge really want him as this business-savvy, no-nonsense, non-political kind of guy. I really don't see the difference between him and the last guy in charge of WB. Synder has a lot of flaws, most of them technical, but I wouldn't call him woke exactly.

There’s still people that doubt DeadwingDork a future lulzcow. On his recently stream he randomly sperging over people not liking James Gunn Superman and unironically calling people chuds like he did with Disney gay nigger doctor who.

I can assure you (mainly due to having a homie in India & some personal reasearch). The only reasons that's even happening are:

1: Jurassic Park just isn't a really famous in India.

2: They don't have a single film running right now made for the masses & general audiences until next month (they have an action film clash coming, apparently). Seriously, if this got delayed & released in August, it would do less than half it's numbers at the moment there. This month of July is so dry in Indian box office that this is the only thing generally worth watching for them at the moment.
