They built up so many costs with so many unprofitable ventures and got so used to running on a deficit that they couldn't course correct when the money spout was turned off and were told to make a profit or be butchered for parts.

Not only did WB give them too much money and leeway, they also tried to sell them off multiple times but could never get any buyers. If a company is trying to sell you off for five or more years without success, don't be surprised if they axe you. RT had every chance to turn around and make a profit, but they instead just decided to double down on wasting more money hiring useless people for no real good reason.

Gavin is at least somewhat real life awkward and dumb though and you get that from the podcast like the recent saga of him having fucking squirrels in his office ceiling and because a few people didn't get back to him he stopped trying to contact people for a bit and just pouted about it while an extra month of damage was done by the squirrels then he came home to a snake climbing his house and fucking lost track of the snake and gave up on that and is finally having pest control come but if what he said is true he never bothered to update pest control that it might also be a snake issue. Like that's real life dumb in multiple ways and he provided footage and audio of these things happening like a squirrel living in his grill so I don't think he's completely an act.

Next year RTX will be back. They’re just taking a year off to regroup. They’re all burnt out, dude. It’s actually a good thing that they’re taking a year off of RTX. Yeah he's said that. And some of his moments where he acts stupid and ruins things for his team in Let's Plays are him intentionally screwing up because he thinks it's funny, or because he thinks the Lads were winning too much and he wanted to change things up. Except the problem is he's not going easy on the Gents so they can win and make things more even, he's blatantly sabotaging his team just because he thinks it's funny and just pissing everyone off, including the audience.
