CSAM reduced the very hard hitting disgust of that term into some letters. An acronym. You'll hear YouTubers use terms like "corn," "childcorn," and "potatophiles" to not get demonetized. It's as stupid as "unalive" for suicide and I think it literally reduces the impact of those terms
But child porn is a stupid term as well. Porn... so two teens doing the deed consenusally and filming it? This already muddies the waters.
It only got such a horrend connotation because of the people associated with it, not because it is the right term. Similarly, CSAM will eventually get the same connotation, for the same reason, be it an acronym or not. The change of terminology only bought some time at best.

The main issue here is, that they throw everything together under an umbrella term. And they always did that. So some heinous child rapist is called the same as some dude who was lewd to a teenager.
And they constantly use this in defense of child rapists! It's the Nr.1 defense for Bicha as well: "it's just two siblings doing something lewd while being children".
This is lunacy. A teenager isn't a child either.
What he did is child rape and torture - with the torture part being very important. The torture doesn't need to have a sexual reason either, We can't judge that, because we can't see into his brain, neither should it make a difference, we just know that he did that as well.

Imagine someone saying:
So this 15yo murdered this 7yo? It's not murder, because they are both children.
Bicha defenders use this argument. They are unironically doing the: "She was 17y and 350 days old you sick fuck!", just in favor of the rapist.
The concept of giving children (and maybe teens) special protection from harm, is unrelated to the question of wether a teen should be liable for doing harm.
I can be simultaniously protected from harm, while being responsible when i do harm. It is not that complicated.
Bicha was a teenager when he raped and tortured pre-pubescent children. In Florida, the age of criminal responsibility is 7.

Those people are living in opposite-world, they want it to be fair game to rape and torture children - while teenagers should be allowed to do any crime they wish.
Couriously, in Europe, there are weekly cases of "diverse folx" getting away with brutal crimes and murder, because they claimed to not be 18 yet. In England you got "youth gangs" doing stabbings and robbings daily.
So it all ties together into a grand scheme of evil.
At least you can't claim that they are being inconsistent in their promotion of evil.

Why did Canonical even bother firing Bicha at this point? It just makes them look even worse imo. They kept him around, defended the hiring when called out, and then fired him?
Because they must have lost a business partner or might have called a lawyer in the meantime.
This particular dude has done shit so heinous that no matter when he did it, he should be under intense supervision forever. I mean frankly I don't think he should be allowed to breathe, that shit should be illegal too, but that's not the world we're living in.
It doesn't matter whether your prison system is punitative or corrective or eye-for-an-eye revenge based.
All of them have a way to deal with people who can't be fixed.
In the current system, it would be: From jail straight to looney bin.
Even if you are a friend of criminals, who thinks that they all need to be rehabilitated, you will have to admit that putting the child rapist into an affirmative safe space isn't going to better him, but rather teaches him to do even more crimes, because they are ok.

Seeing how Bicha acted in the past years - telling sexual assault victims on reddit that they weren't actually sexually assaulted - it is undeniable that he learned nothing and is on his way to become a re-offender.
So you have to "do something", and that "something" will neccessarily include to lock him in, in some way, be it a prison or a mental ward.

If the offered code can meet that above criteria which makes it useful on the whole, I will accept it, regardless of how much of a sperg the author is.
I'm (mostly) inclined to agree with you but you should remember the cautionary tale of PolyMC. The lead programmer allowed contributions from anyone, including the lefty types. Once he attempted to edit the CoC(k) they added, he got such pushback from them to the point where he just decided to remove them from the repository. Instantly they found and abused any and all surfaces of attack they could find (third-party packages, servers, etc.) and sent out a message that he "had gone rogue" which was parroted by many influencers. After they sabotaged PolyMC they then proceeded to fork it. The new launcher is sponsored by various companies, while the original was left to die. Plus, they keep shoving tranny cocks down the throats of the users of "their" launcher.

It's all fine and dandy when everyone is nobodies contributing to some unknown project, but don't forget to be prepared to face the wall the microsecond you dissent.

Because they must have lost a business partner or might have called a lawyer in the meantime This is very likely the case, since the firirng will likely also cause a lot of issues internally when all the trannies get upset.

It was also interesting to note that this was just 24 hours after the jew made the video where he posted Canonical's first ill-advised email.
(we knew he was a convicted sexual predator but we hired him anyway).
Companies rarely act this fast because buerocracy moves very slowly even when everyone is in agreement.

That this happened this quickly and Mark was personally CCed on the email to Lunduke,
that tells me shit hit the fan big time. Very likely big important customers called Mark personally and asked him what the hell is going on.

Possibly also in part due to the first ill-advised email. I really doubt that legal counsel had approved on communication where they admit they knew they hired a sexual predator and possibly they blew a fuse when they saw it on Ludunkes channel.

We have a whole bunch of professionals with legal background here on the farms.
Say you, active or retired, legal counsels, would you have approved that first official email they sent to Lunduke ?
If anyone ever felt they had been treated inappropriately by this faggot when he was out representing Canonical in an official capacity, this is absolutely the kind of email you want your lawyer to get his hands on.

Chris Chan stare (xhe literally looks like Chris doe)

Ok but seriously, I was looking more into these retards and found out that conill (Chris Chan's long lost xister) actually went after another dev for doing the unthinkable, using a different license from the one he was meant to use.
Recently it came out that someone was actually taking OSS projects and then laundering them to change the license whenever they had a licensing problem: https://lnkd.in/gfwXrk8vLimiting exposure to bad behaviour like this is where tools like Stacklok's Trusty can really shine, because tools like Trusty exist to help gauge the risk of malicious maintainers in your dependencies, and somebody taking copyleft components and laundering them into MIT-licensed ones is clearly a malicious maintainer.
It's for the law and the git repo maintainers to decide if he did anything wrong, not your sorry ass.

He put up a statement afterwards BTW

imagine working hard to bring a project from the dead and this is the kind of response you get, TOSS people are the reason why commercial closed-source software will always be better except that they aren't free most of the time, but w/e you get what you pay for.

So did they post his shitty little video or are they still skittish?
I'm conflicted on this.
Division of purpose. If you're going to point and laugh, do so here. If you're planning to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT then resign the thread and go do the shit.

If you think a lolcow needs firing, don't post on kiwifarms, go do that shit.
It's like Null says, if you think someone is actionably committing a crime, Report it to the relevant authorities, don't post it on the farms for stickers.

I wouldn't be surprised if the french chafe under anti pedophilia laws. It's like the Italians and rape, or Italians and fucking women who aren't their wives. I don't like Italy.

Typically, Lunduke says that he reached out and didn't get a response yet - it's a standard sentence when he reports about anything.
Bicha did his wiki sperg-out five days before Lunduke reported, so if we assume that Lunduke was a good guy, he gave Canonical five days to respond before dropping the bomb. There was a weekend, so three work days.
I am daring, and assume that Lunduke didn't do that, but rather sent a request to Canonical simultaniously with recording his piece.

But Canonicals hiring practices are insane and Mark Shuttleworth himself interviews, digs into their past and approves of new employees.

If you read this, you won't be surprised that Mark is CCed here. It is his personal reputation at stake. It's not just about the company anymore, since he is known to be super aggressviely digging into the past of his employees.

It'll probably seem naively charitable but there is also the possibility that when Mark Shuttleworth found out what kind of creature he had working for him, he wanted that thing out. I know the popular conception is that all rich people are part of some Podesta-Epstein sex cabal but I'm fairly sure at least some are decent human beings. Though the company should have known this and probably someone did, the general knowledge at the upper levels of who their code contributors are is probably sparse. And Bicha is basically a glorified package maintainer, isn't he? The awareness of any at the top would at most be "yeah, we hired someone with a spent sexual assault conviction". Again, I'm not saying nobody knew and I'm certainly not saying they shouldn't have known. But in addition to reasons (a) "we're getting bad press" and (b) "one of our customers threatened to drop us", there's also (c) "I just read that girl's testimony and I feel sick..."

I'm an optimistic sap, I know, but that's how I would react if I were running a company and found such a person working for me.

So did they post his shitty little video or are they still skittish?
I looked earlier. None of the conference videos are on their YouTube channel and I don't know where else they would be.

He really wants his voting rights back.
It must irk him that he couldn't vote against Orange Man in good old Florida.
"Wait until you hear how many children have been sent to prison"
Maybe he was ageplaying in his own head during his stay in prison to feel even more oppressed by the state.
So did they post his shitty little video or are they still skittish?
They could wait until the con is over, we just don't know. It probably will be as boring as watching paint dry but at least it will be the last known footage of Bicha.

Maybe we can find a rare Bicha appearance as an audience member at one of the other talks.

It should show up in here eventually (assuming they don't just withhold it forever): https://meetings-archive.debian.net/pub/debian-meetings/2025/DebConf25/
Bicha's talk was called "What's new in Debian 13 for GNOME", for reference.
I doubt he was heckled, but it would still be nice to see for sure.

That was a hilarious read. Shuttleworth rejects the dude for seeming "passive aggressive". Dude writes long online public post about Canonical's hiring practices implying the fault is with Shuttleworth, and listing other interviewers who disagree with Shuttleworth. Also admits to lying on his application about his academic record in the first few paragraphs of the article and ends it all with "I have Asperger's."

Think Shuttleworth called it.

Also, whenever Mark Shuttleworth comes up, I think of the old Everybody Loves Eric S Raymond webcomic.

I'm conflicted on this. On one hand, no gayops and no pozloading my neghole. On the other hand, I absolutely guarantee that Bicha and at least half the staff at this event have done this exact thing to people they disagree with on gay idpol shit and as such they, if anyone, deserve it.
What is the forum policy on Zoosadism / reporting actual crimes?
What he did to those girls was nothing short of years of torture and rape, and he has not fulfilled his obligation to disclose that he is a registered sex predator when interacting with people.

Wayland manager and yet it was created and is spearheaded by a Polack who loves his elf hentai a bit too much.
Could have posted this shit show he's an degen.

But I do empathize with your post. As Josh said if the software is good fuckng use it. Tribalism is cancer and holds so many things back it's unreal. " This guy called me a fag cuz I was being a fag. I will make it my life goal to fuck with everything he is attached to." Certified eyesight loosing square head logic.

Sorry but, even though it causes me immense pain, I have to agree with kaniini. The project was licensed with LGPL-2.0 and they changed it to MIT, which LGPL doesn't allow. The project owner, mdmintz, repeatedly states that this is allowed, at one time claiming that it's because Github didn't show any license in the righthand section of its front page, on which he gets corrected, as that's just a convenience feature that won't work if the project doesn't follow the method Github uses to determine the license, but puts the license in some weird nonstandard location. Obviously Github's convenience feature isn't a legally binding license declaration, and the owner is trying to claim that he is.
He then concedes that it might not have been the right thing, but goes and accuses reddit and 4chan of unfairly targeting and brigading on his project (calls them a flash mob). He makes excuses, saying that Microsoft did the same with their fork of Puppeteer, Playwright, failing to understand that it was a change from Apache to MIT, which would depend on the terms of the Apache license, and Microsoft later changed it back (probably due to this same issue). He also clains that a lot of other projects also have licensing issues, as if that makes it okay.

Fucking Hell. This is very spicy by Phoronix standards.

And on Canonical: I'm getting the feeling from comments on Lunduke's videos and elsewhere, that Canonical might have managed to get out somewhat ahead of it. This comment leans that way. If nothing else, Canonical have shown a lot more sense and quick action than DebConf has.
