This is the same mentality of the person I’m currently caring for.
They are up to about 12 daily meds, including blood pressure, to keep them running.
But not actually running because they had a leg chopped off due to neglecting their health and picking Coca Cola and McDonalds over apparently having both legs.

First, we have invested interests in the form of reactors wanting to making money and people looking for drama and/or comfort with their own situation. Out all the cows out there, Amber is probably the easiest one for the average viewer to react too. Her main issue is that she is fat and for a lot of people, they can relate to that. Hell, the average overweight person probably agrees with Amber half the time when she brings up her issues with losing weight. They too have binge sessions and trouble finding relationships so to see someone in their position times 10 gives them reassurance with their own issues.

If you go to her subreddit (or pretty much any subreddit dedicated to snarking,) you will see countless comments from either current fatties or reformed ones that directly invoke their current or former situation to what Amber is going through.

Shit they will openly admit to shopping at fucking torrid for fuck sake. Lots of those people really shouldn’t be saying shit (glasses houses) but they need some sort of outlet for their emotions and kicking someone when they are down is what they choose to do.

Basically they look at Amber and don’t see a freak show but the person they could have been if they too had a source of income tha incentivizes them for being a disgusting slob.

That’s why her video views constantly hit about 45-50k. That’s why people still watch reactions. They need to know that even though their life sucks, there is someone out whose life sucks even more.
