UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

conspiracy theorist
I used to make fun of them too, till it all started coming true.
'member when mass migration wasn't a real thing, then the broken clock did it thing, and all of sudden it's a super serious issue we're actualley allowed to talk about in public?
Same deal with the tainted blood/post office horizon/parliamentary expenses scandals, none of it could ever possibly be real till it is, they aren't always thankfully, but it happens too much for it not to be an observable phenomena IMO.

Ross Ulbricht used a VPN and other software to try and stay safe from the cops, didn't work out for him.
He got caught browsing the fucking site at a public library because he involved himself in a domestic argument between two undercover operatives posing as a couple. Stupidity is what done him in, the tech was sound.

See, I gave up after the blatant Nadia Hussain psy op. She was the shittest baker the entire season, and if I recall correctl,y one of the best bakers that season made ONE ERROR and that was their cake fell off the counter but was servable. This was the 5th round too, so early in and Nadia got star baker and they went. It was rigged as fuck! Her cakes are shit too, look at this shit;

Bakeoff: The Professionals is where it's at. Regular Bakeoff is just pablum entertainment interspersed with Paul Hollywood wondering if maybe he wasn't actually happier as a professional Hotel chef.

The Professionals shows some absolutely amazing stuff that makes your jaw drop. Interspersed with boring sugar sculpture and Cherise going "It did blow me away!"

Since there seem to, for some reason, be other people here just as schizophrenically paranoid as you and for some reason corroborate your extreme beliefs, I'll follow the advice and start a new account.
Listen to people trying to help you. You confirmed the opsec was bad and you told people you're making a new account. We're paranoid because we have read the threads where farmers dox each other.

At least 3. There maybe more. Article wants an account to read more.

If they found out where he was then it failed. They socially engineered as well as broke the tech. The fight distracted him so they could get his laptop with the account unlocked. If they couldn't log into the account they would have had a harder time in court. The fight was to grab it while he was logged in.

I can accept that you're telling me this in good faith, but the details I've shared about myself here are 100% substituted. I really don't live in London and I'm not a lecturer. I know what I'm doing. All that would happen is some troon would find and ruin the life of an innocent man or woman.
Not wishing to bandwagon here but I'd like to add to other's points that it's about not building up a store of information for the day that somebody wants to dox you. For years you might merrily post here and then one day you have a burning fact to communicate or opinion to share and it's that which makes you an enemy. At which point all the milquetoast posting history gets viewed in a new light and some lunatic goes through your history noting down facts 'used to work in X, moved to Y in such and such a year, has a pet hamster named Jeremy Corbyn' or whatever. It's a little store of gunpowder that builds up over time and it's not that it will go off but if things ever do kick off, then the more there is the higher the risk.

Also, saying the information is false isn't what someone should do. If the goal is to misdirect (which is sensible), the thing that helps would be to not say the information is false. Instead just leave things vague or unconfirmed.

I use a VPN, is that generally not considered enough to hide from 2 tier Kier?
It's a good start. But the VPN protects you against someone getting hold of Null's server logs and saying "she is from this town". (Whether getting hold of them through legal action or illegal methods). It doesn't protect against doxing from putting together information you have shared.

Anyway, I don't want to bandwagon anymore as I sense you've had enough! I just wanted to add these two points. And to help you stay safe. It's about not giving the tools to someone the day someone does decide to try.

I'm not sure if you are old enough to remember the 80s game show called 'Interceptor' but think as yourself as one of the contestants trying to prevent the Interceptor from finding you and 'zapping' you.
Best. Theme tune. Ever.

Pretty sure it's Chopin on a sythesizer but it's great. Love those "chou-chou-chou" sounds for the wrist-laser.

Rachael Maskell (York Central) is the 4th Labour MP to lose the whip so far.

Not sure how sensible it is for Labour to offer a cadre of MPs already in-situ to Jezbollah. It also speaks loudly to the government's internal insecurity; by contrast, Blair never suspended Abbott despite her record of rebellion when he was PM.

That seat will be a toss-up for either the Greens or the Lib Dems in the future.

I have noticed that 'It's not that deep' has been disturbingly misappropriated by gen alpha/z to justify their appalling and abusive behaviour.

Perhaps when these offenders get violated in prison that their assailant may reassure them 'It's not that deep' as they penetrate them with either shank knife or bodily appendage.

Even if someone had been injured, I'm sure they'd be just as remorseless and find a way to blame the victim.

Anyone heard about this?

An agent even sent an email to all clients defending themselves against conditional selling (where they won't put forward your offer unless you agree to use their mortgage services and conveyancing) despite not even being mentioned by name in the documentary while skirting around denying conditional selling.

No wonder offers are drying up, these idiots are suppressing property values with this behaviour.
