HTS was killing Druze who blew up a tribal spat with local Bedouin tribes and ended up committing blatant treason against Syria by fighting under Israeli flags & actively calling for maximal Israeli intervention to save them from the gov't forces (which were not all HTS, but also included pro-Damascus Druze). I think a lot of people, mostly on the left but also on the right, and also all over the world, are having a bit of an existential crisis right now.
