/r/breakingmom tries to fit in to their new small community, but finds it a bit difficult. Has a laundry list of complaints:
  • people already have friends that are not her, they must be intimidated by her vast knowledge and worldly experience. DESPITE HER BEING NICE AND SMELLING GOOD (doubt)
  • they have different opinions about places than her HONEST comments about them, they are obviously being dishonest
  • rural school doesn't have a lot of money, community most to blame or something
  • damn baseball kids or something

I grew up in one, and I knew that it wasn't nice when I was there, okay. It's full of cliques. People who are too afraid of someone who has had life experience out of their bubble to let them in.

The school system in our town now is known as a school with a 'tight community' 'the best school ever' etc. It's not. Not one person has chosen to speak to me. I have had to make all of the initial contact, and I'm fucking nice, okay? And I smell good.

I'm so fucking tired of the loud "I grew up 2 miles from here" voices taking over the honest comments about places.

The school is broke, the school is literally broken in places. There is a high teacher turnover. There's 1 special needs teacher and she is drowning. You can barely access any services. There are bullies that target the awkward kids. The baseball players rule the school. etc.

Your community is a community. Your friends are nice to you and your kids. The end.

My kid LOVES any celebration. I've honestly held of telling her it's the 4th until last week because I knew that she was going to talk about it endlessly. 'I want to wear the colors, I want to watch fireworks, I'm excited to see our family' kind of stuff.

She doesn't know -- anything, really. We turn the news off and talk via chat in front of them.

My family is 'on the same team' and their thought is that they can't take something else from us, so they are having a cookout. I just can't. I don't want to celebrate. I have a pit in my stomach daily, and the whole 'holiday' makes me nauseous.

I'll pull something out of my ass last minute, I'm sure. But, fuck. I just want to cry, okay?

I want to light shit on fire, not watch fireworks.

I posted for advice, and I’m so thankful for all of your responses!

I’m coming from a 24/7 screens on family. Totally dependent. Never thought we could lose them.

I am coming back to say it hasn’t been that bad

… with conditions.

The first day was rough. Like, really rough. I didn’t realize how addicted I was as well. I felt like my brain was vibrating without the constant background noise. My kid ‘pretended’ to punch me when I told her screens weren’t coming back for an unforeseen amount of time, and no one fell asleep before midnight.

She has an accurate view of the school because her daughter and her have suuuuucch a good relationship. She's totally not projecting her insecurities and feelings onto the situation. Child has fun on a field trip? Problem. 8 year old doesn't care about fashion? My daughter is 8, and she’s unfortunately a lot like me. She has a lot of ‘friends’, but all of those friends have a best friend, and she just floats around. I was called a social butterfly, but I just didn’t have a spot to land. She deals with the same thing.

We have a pretty open relationship, and she tells me a lot, but recently she doesn’t say much about school at all. Alternatively, her teacher tells me that she talks positively about home all the time. So, I guess I’m kind of assuming that there isn’t that much heat at school happening to spill out at home.

She has been excited about a field trip they went on and discussed endlessly who she would sit by and hang out with. I tried to help her figure it out, but as a parent, you can’t really do much.

When she got back, I asked her how her trip went, and she just said ‘fun’ and dropped it, so I didn’t push.

Her teacher uploaded photos of the trip, and my kid isn’t be any of her friends in them. She’s off to the side. Which likely means they did what she mentioned and hung out with their ‘best’ friend instead of her.

It makes me really sad to see because I know how it feels and how good it feels to vent, but I don’t want to make her feel worse about it by bringing it up.

Ok, I know. "Beauty is on the inside" "personality means more than anything" blah blah blah. This is all we talk about. We know this, but I'm secretly trying to get her to put her best foot forward because she has ADHD and generally doesn't care about her appearance.

My kid is shifting to a bigger building next year that includes middle schoolers (because our school system is split oddly).

Next week they are meeting the class that they will join with to create their eventual graduating class. We're going this weekend to pick out a new outfit because she's so excited to meet new kids. My kiddo struggles with friends, and she *needs* this. She needs other kids to be interested in what she has to offer just by seeing her because she's fucking awesome and no one seems to appreciate that currently.

She's a kid's size 8. 3rd grade.

Im going the be honest with you, in that specific case I wouldnt believe they were regular people claiming to have access to atrocity porn, but instead israeli disinformation shills, remember they ran with the meme of mass rapes by Hamas for a while and let's be real here it's plausible.

It's not a felony to watch the IDF ones because they're public and on like six different sites. At least admitting to a felony is kind of funny in how stupid it is "I saw publicly available content!" where is the flex.

This is exactly why I hate the Trans Invasion of subs. If they just showed up and kept quiet, talked about DK or MArio and whatever, nobody would care. But every single time even the most mild, milquetoast criticism shows up, they have to circle the wagons, act smugly defiant against an extremely vague threat, and derail the actual topic at hand to talk about themselves.

Every time I am reminded that this subreddit was made out of spite from r/TheLeftCantMeme and that all what this sub can do is just draw over non-left wing memes and treat it as a personal own. There's more variety in r/Conservatives than any left wing subreddit I've encountered. Actually, it's stuff like this why I'm still wondering why leftists like they're a minority within a minority. Constantly victimizing themselves and acting like they're living in Nazi Germany because someone with a differing political opinion is sitting right next to them.

And now with the whole files fiasco, they're going to have even more ground than ever while STILL whining that they're being overtaken by a fascist, authoritarian country.

I think I'm actually losing thoughts on what to say. You can only talk about what they do so many times before you're just beating the rotting decomposing horse.
