By now, the case of Vitaly Zdorovetskiy has reached most of the internet for months. Vitaly is a wealthy Russian-American blogger who goes around town on America and other places, doing both charity and pranks, just to get noticed. He pulled off some pranks in the Philippines such as threatening to rob people, stealing from stores, stealing from a restaurant, harassing cops and security personnel, and just being an all-around prick. This got him arrested, but he didn't care. Typically, these countries would just arrest and deport him, especially since he's usually rich enough to bribe people.
The problem is, the Philippine authorities had him arrested, but not deported. Instead, they threw him in prison and planned to try him like a regular criminal, with a possible 20 year sentence if found guilty. Why? Because not only did he humiliate the Philippines for all the internet to see, but the authorities, the politicians, the country might be a poverty-stricken jungle, but the politicians themselves were rich enough to not be bribed. Not to mention that this was an election season when he got arrested in the Spring of 2025, so they threw the book at him to gain clout from the people. So now, Vitaly is stuck in the Philippines, and his family is struggling to get him out, because both the Filipino public and the wealthy Filipino political class wanted to make an example out of him. No amount of bribe money is getting him out, and anyone with any power handling this case wants to see Vitaly get cooked.
