  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Everything is loading painfully slow for me since maintenance completed. Tried changing up the VPN settings and it didn't make any difference.
how about any information what so ever? specific pages? static content like avatars or forum content? time for issue to start occurring? all day every day or specific periods? browser? tor or clearnet? anything at all? how am I supposed to help you?

Clearnet, brave, started sometime late in the day yesterday, and every time I want to move from Page A to Page B it takes upwards of 30 seconds for Page B to load. When it does load everything is there (avatars, etc) but it just takes a very long time. Same deal when I want to write a reply. Periodically it times out and I have to try again, but usually it just takes a long time.

Work mostly complete.

I dropped about $3,000 to get new hardware to increase my access to the servers so that we have to rely on remote hands less often which will decrease downtime in catastrophic events. I am upgrading our network to 10G from 1G. I intend to reduce the complexity of our topology so that the site has less latency with every request.

The most important change is that we have added an optimized NVMe SSD in RAID 10 on XFS for the database. The database is very large and when our previous NVMe raid failed I moved it to the SSD raid that is optimized for files. Thus, the attachments and database were competing for I/O, which is why both broke frequently. This new raid is a completely separate set of devices which means that not only is the database on very recent harddrives with a better connector (NVMe vs SATA), it is also no longer competing with the S3 file system that handles attachments. This will make both load faster.

It's 3am and I'm tired but this is only the first step towards optimizing things. I will do more work over the week.

This is brought to you by the GiveSendGo donors btw, thank you for helping me help you help us all.

We are so back

I disabled HTTP2 because I had issued with that in the past. It does noticeably slow down fucking everything to turn it off though. I definitely need some way to enable it.

ok I'm fucking around with http2 again.
That would probably explain why media is loading kind of slow and I'm getting occasional "File not found" pages when clicking next page in threads, but simply clicking back and trying again 1-3 times seems to work.

Carry on.

Great work on the upgrade and thanks to the givesendgo niggers. I didn't have the chance to donate unfortunately but thanks to "viewers at home like you"

Brave totally crashed for me, and when I re-opened it, I had been logged out of all tabs including KF.
Had to relog with pw to access.
Weird timing. I have a real janky laptop so cannot discount that, but happened at the same time as Josh is turning things off and back on again.

I had issues loading pages like five mins ago, now seems normal.
(Nvm it took a little to post when I made this one post and later edit it. But much better than five mins ago)

I'm seeing other sites complaining about Xenforo HTTP2 struggling with overflowing the header buffer, any logs point to something like that? Could explain why it's randomly happening, if it gets some extra big header.

Site is hanging for ~30 sec at a time for me, and it just took about 45 tries to get a small video uploaded. Not my internet everything else is working like normal.

please be more specific. is this every time? in the first minute you use the site? after half an hour? brave? firefox? ANYTHING?
Samsung Internet on android, seems to be better now that that video actually uploaded and I'm not trying to upload again and again. It would hang at 100% indefinitely, or turn black and not let me insert, then when I went to refresh or click anywhere else it would hang for a while.

General site usage has been fine for me, but I did have about a 30 second "loading" period when I reacted to this post:

It eventually posted it so it didn't lose the request, seems like it just queued up until it was processed.

i've experienced this same exact issue for quite some time now, sometimes videos upload fine sometimes they don't. brave on PC w/VPN, clearnet, switching servers sometimes fixes it but idk if that's because i changed IPs or if it just naturally fixed itself.

sometimes it gets stuck at 100%, sometimes it "uploads" but you can't insert and have to refresh, revealing it wasn't actually uploaded.
once when it got stuck at 100% i checked network activity and it was double uploading for some reason. even when the upload goes through sometimes it still double uploads, bizarre.
and then sometimes uploading slows down immensely halfway.

i can't pin down any rhyme or reason to it, it seems completely random.
