Sam Hyde

I love Sam as this anarchic ball of energy that creates insanely awkward scenarios and puts others through hell for fun. I never knew about MDE and instead watched him during 2016 doing on the street stuff fucking with people.

Harland pinpointed all of Sam's projection and insecurity and unleashed it on him, all while keeping it funny. And it was amazing. Cutting him off to have his henchman speak instead, talking about rape, being raped, priests raping. Calling him a big stupid gorilla because he's clearly on T, disregarding all his talking points, ignoring his plugs and stories. Putting Sam in the uncomfortable position between submitting or flaring up, and he chose to flare up and lost his cool. He tried to play it off as a joke but his crew clearly knew he was pissed. This shit was genius in its execution. He either did his research OR he is insane at reading people. Harland is perfectly executing what Idubbz imagined he would do to crack Sam.

This was a growth moment for Sammy, he is funny but he clearly has a rigid caste system among his clique and needed to be jolted. I don't want him comfortable and arrogant, that's why we got Laptop Sam fucking around doing nothing in Fishtank last month. This was a form of hazing that might disappear in the future, old comics are out of the spotlight and wont be around to break people down in order to build them up anymore. This type of shit happened at every club to the newbie and he either figured out how to hang or bounced out.

In this case they were on the road for the show previews and it's literally the people he's performing with and his crew so it makes sense. Usually when it's just Sam making an appearance it's himself plus Chris.
I mean the normal thing to do is to send 1-3 people to interview at any time on a media tour. But sure.

Regrettably correct.

After finally watching it, I really don't think this is as big of a deal as many of you are making it out to be. It's two strangers with different styles of humor, very much not on the same wavelength, and neither wants to let up so it's uncomfortable for anyone watching. They were on a promotional tour for their show and it's understandable why Sam was getting pissed. However, it was a stupid idea to even go on that podcast to begin with if they wanted to promote anything because Sam's type A personality was never going to mesh well with Harland's style.

If anything, Harland taking forever to release his video well after episode 1 of EP was released and on top of that removing all of the plugs comes off as seething vindictiveness. He did get manhandled by Sam chimping out on him so I guess it's fair, but it's still a weasel move.

I'm just not buying this "HARLAND CLOWNED SAM HYDE" thing. The whole encounter was bizarre and both acted like douchebags.

I thought flipping the table was funny, the battery not so much.

But taking forever to release the episode then editing it to spite the guests is very petty

The more honest people in the thread have at least called it "trolling," but there's clearly something more going on beneath the obvious. Harland absolutely despises Sam, I assume for political reasons.
This is insane cope. It's way easier to make the case that he was aggressive or disrespectful in his JRE appearance (loudly chewing celery into the mic and then spitting it out, etc) than anything he did with Sam. What was he supposed to have done here that was so disrespectful? He referenced a bit from the trailer for Sam's new show? Okay? Even if Sam didn't want to lick the fruit, he could have at least used the chance to pivot to talk about his show, which he seethed about not having a chance to do later in the podcast.

Bottom line is this, Sam Hyde might have created a niche for himself as a cult online reality show showrunner and podcaster, but he's not talented as a comedian in the traditional sense, he sucks at stand-up, he can't improv, he simply has no ability at all to riff with an actual established comic as evidenced by this podcast.

Sam Hyde was out of his depth completely on this podcast, was totally revealed as such, and then resorted to his usual crutch of "roid rage lunatic" which doesn't really appear as a bit anymore as much as a part of his personality.

Its funny you're baffled by the comparisons to Norm, his contemporary whom he toured with for a million years and constantly hung out with when they were friends. Norm like Halrands comedy, I'd imagine he can pick things up a little more clearly than you. Especially since you assume Harland hates Sam politically, which is just bizarre for someone like Harland. I just dont think you know much about whats going on, like most Sam fans.
The only reason there's a need to pretend that something unfair happened to Sam is because even they can see that he got humiliated bad. The podcast was basically every detail of how Sam Hyde sucks as a comedian distilled into a crisp 40 minute package. It's kind of a masterpiece, every minute has some detail or another to zoom in on.

This was a growth moment for Sammy, he is funny but he clearly has a rigid caste system among his clique and needed to be jolted. Not even Nick voices up any real dissent to what's going on even though he's clearly unhappy to the point of being distraught by it. If you listen at the end he mutters that they'll make it right and that he and Erick are good for it (presumably meaning paying for any damage), which is barely audible over the crosstalk.

What's really striking is how normal Harland seems to me as someone who's spent a lot of time listening to comedians talk to each other on podcasts and radio shows. Having a little fun winding someone up and trading jabs is just the customary mode of behavior that everyone present is expected to be able to roll with. It's why comedy itself is a fundamentally masculine thing. That's how men communicate with each other. Comedians just tend to be more skilled communicators.

Thinking back, I don't think I've ever seen Sam in that kind of setting before this. I admittedly haven't seen much of it in quite a long time, but it doesn't seem like he's on the receiving end of much ribbing on his podcast, and most other situations he's in are outwardly hostile. Casual roasting among friends doesn't seem like it's part of his public life at all, and judging by how he reacted here, I'd bet it's not a big part of his private life either.

Rushing to assert yourself physically or hurt someone in response to being made fun of isn't masculine, by the way. I know that socially maladjusted internet men tend to rationalize this kind of thing as a reclamation of the testosterone Zog robbed them of, but it's just being a humorless pussy. In the past, men have usually come to understand that distinction when they stop being awkward teenagers obsessed with being the biggest dick in the room, but this kind of arrested development is so commonplace that having a real masculine role model around to even form a concept of is a tossup for most. Glad my dad wasn't a faggot, I guess.

This is so fucking gay lmao. I'm not gonna sit here and say Harland didn't have some kind of political resentment against Sam, it's certainly a possibility, but even if that's true who gives a fuck? He set up a scenario where he could bait Sam into looking like an asshole, and he took it hook line and sinker, and made an entertaining show out of this mess of an interview.

Sam is not this unflappable man of steel, at his heart he is an insecure art school fag that overcompensates, and once you find that pressure point you can fuck with him.
You're not understanding the point of my comment and you, more or less, agree with it anyways. I'm reacting primarily to the framing that I see many people giving it where they think you have Harland being his usual goofball self and mixing deadpan comedy with le quirky randomness and that Sam is some uptight weirdo who just couldn't keep up because he's not a real comedian or something.

After watching it, it's very clear to me that Harland is what could be charitably be called "trolling" him, but is really more like just trying his best to piss Sam off and thwart whatever he wanted to do with the interview (promote his show, give some amusing anecdotes, shoot the shit, etc.). Harland is essentially passive aggressive (even dropping the 'passive' like when suggesting he got raped) and purposely difficult the whole time.

So, I'm just pointing out the dynamic that I see Harland actually engaging in. Now, does that mean that Sam didn't deserve it? Up to you, I guess. I don't follow Sam enough to say, but as a neutral viewer, I didn't think it made for a good show. Do I think Sam came out on top? Absolutely not. I think he embarrassed himself - I already said that. So, I'm not sure where the disagreement, if any, even lies.

I think this only starts after like 15-20 minutes into the show, before that I legit think Harland was just trying to have fun but he started getting annoyed at Sam's inability to stop killing bits and taking himself so seriously. By the time he told Sam he looked like he had been raped or so I agree Harland was 100% trolling him.

>nick immediately starts his livestream calling all the parasocial weirdos, who do gay shit like read his facial emotions from a comedy podcast, retards.
Damn, how will all the trannies cope? I thought this was the DOWNFALL of the evil alt-right racist NAZI sam hyde, finally getting his comeuppance! Sam finally met the man who would take him down! Harland williams!
