TGWTG The Spoony One / Spoony / Noah Antwiler and Rachel Baker / @RaeAngel07 - The touching romance between a washed-up videogame reviewer throwing a decade-long pity party and his delusional Canuck stalker. #weaknotsick #donttellmehowtosulk

But yeah, if Spoony started making videos again like he used to? it'd be heralded as a great return. Its not going to happen, but a lot of people would be happy.
Heck if he just started light, doing those car review vids with Brad, I'd be there in a heartbeat.

(Who was the angry friend of Brad that would do movie reviews with him? They had a falling out but he was hilarious. His review of "That's my boy" and "mr popper's penguins" still make me laugh)

You mean Jake Norvell?

Or Jerrid Foiles?

He had a falling out with Jake because he stole Brad's girlfriend at that time. They've since made up but are no longer doing things. And there was some tension with Jerrid... and I think it had something to do with Brad's former wife Jillian. He said something about her or something and he went off to do his own thing. They too have since made up and Jerrid occasionally would join Brad for Midnight Screenings but I haven't seen him do that in a while.

Jake! That was the guy.

Though I was confused because I swore Brad was married to Jillian when Jake was doing the reviews. Was it Jillian that Jake stole? (dang man, breaking the bro code and ruining a great Internet show)

Can't hardly believe that was back in 2011.

Oh that was Jake. He was amazing.

What happened was that Jake was banging a girl brad was dating I think in-between uhh Julian and violet. She never showed up on the show and apparently wanted to have a poly relationship with him and Jake. Brad understandablely told them to fuck off.

I remember Brad said in a stream he made peace with Jake off screen but he's never come back.

I thought it was Violet he was banging?

Back in the day someone mad a website "IHateCinemaSnob". One of the rumors on there was about everyone in that circle fucking each other. Who knows how true any of that was. I do know that when Brad and Jillian got their own place, videos showed that they had separate bedrooms which is kind of weird. Brad seems like a cool guy though and I don't think anything has been proven to be anything except rumors.

I think I remember someone during the Change the Channel stuff said Brad was seen getting escorts at conventions or meetups or something. Who knows.

Oh yeah, I remember IHateTheCinembSnob. Just the most deranged brain wormed forum beef. Even by 2008 wordpress standards, it read like two guys trying to cancel Brad Jones for being “woke” in ways that didn't make sense.

Background: Anyway, during the whole Jillian Controversy, there was this sideshow where Brad’s bald friend Jarrid got banished from the site.... He made a Gilbert Gottfried-tier joke about Whitney Houston. And Jillian demanded Brad unfriend him in real life.

Brad mended fences, let Jarrid crash at his place...but Jarrid barely appeared in a video again, like he got soft-canceled. Brad’s marriage with Jillian also imploded.

So to go back to this godforsaken blog: Jarrid himself was in the comments, typing up this earnest defense like, Brad’s the most charismatic and generous man I’ve ever known, which, again, just proved the futility of trying to muddy his image.

I mean I don’t even like Brad’s videos that much. But "I hate the cinema snob" was just such a reach, I got a nosebleed just reading it.

I feel like the thing with a lot of people and Spoony is that people merely don't want to see him suffer the way he currently. They want to see him get back on a healthy and happy path in life. While I don't think people would come in droves to watch his videos, him doing video content again would at least signal to a lot of these people that he is in a better state than he currently is. They would more than likely want to support just to ensure more positive things come from it for him.

Brad and his controversies over the years remind me a lot of that Coen Brothers film A Serious Man from 2009. He is by all accounts a decent man just trying to live a happy life. He life however is regularly being impacted by horrible human beings whose actions make his life much worse than it has to be.

It bugs me that I remember what happened over a decade later.

I'll start with Jerrid. So Jerrid was Brad's first co-host on Radiodrome before Faggot Josh took over and the three hosted together. Brad loved having Jerrid in videos but no one else did, every other member of the Snob crew didn't seem to like him that much. On the Radiodrome episode talking about it, apparently Jerrid made a lot of comments at events that caused problems and other issues, until on twitter he said Jillian needed to get breast cancer or something along those lines and that caused the falling out. A few months later, Brad and Jillian got divorced, and then Jerrid made a couple of appearances in Brad's videos to show that they'd made up, but outside of a couple of cameos, Jerrid was out of the videos.

Jake became Brad's new #2 guy but after Jillian, he kept getting into relationships and trying to get married right away. He was with Violet for about eight months but after they broke up he said she was his fiancé. Despite her still living in Detroit while he was still in Springfield IL. But before her, Brad was with a single mother named Rayn who he said was an on again off again thing. She wasn't interested in being monogamous, she wanted to live on a commune with a bunch of dudes paying for her and having a ton of babies. Jake was fine with this and had no problem being eskimo brothers with Brad. Brad on the other hand was not cool with this and decided to banish them both. And apparently Brad got beat up by Jake when Brad tried to start a fight with a dude much taller than him.

Well the rumor is that the guy that ran that website was Kyle Kallgren a.k.a. Oancitizen who hated Brad because he felt that he needed to be more serious about his work.

And while it's not that odd that a couple have separate bedrooms, I actually know a couple with this because of different schedules and they can't sleep in a bed with somebody else, but Jillian was also bisexual / borderline lesbian or so the rumors say.

And one of the rumors over why they divorced was because Brad was getting tail at conventions. But if they slept in separate bedrooms and she was practically a lesbian... why would that be a problem?

I don't know. The whole thing just reeks of a shitpost.

It bugs me that I remember what happened over a decade later.
[snip for brevity]

Well that explains that.

I remember Violet and that she lived in Detroit and they were supposedly engaged. I mean there was one video Brad did which was a binge watch of some sitcom which he filmed while staying at her apartment in Detroit when she was out which struck me as weird. And shortly later they broke up. But I don't remember the other one. I guess I just mixed them up in my head.

Anyway Brad is still a Chad and he's still entertaining to watch even if he's not playing the Snob character anymore.

I feel like the thing with a lot of people and Spoony is that people merely don't want to see him suffer the way he currently. They want to see him get back on a healthy and happy path in life. Him doing a car review with Brad would have been fun as those two always seemed to get along. But even when he was in Chicago, Noah was a flake. I think Brad invited him to Thanksgiving dinner once and he declined. Doug always said the door was still open for him to come back to the site but he never did. Noah's biggest problem was Noah.

Coming full circle back to Lordkat, one of the funny things he did was to troll Kyle with egg nog memes because Kyle has some sort of abnormal hatred towards the drink. LK said he was sending eggnog ninjas to his house and caused Kyle to have a meltdown.

Brad really is the most normal out of all the TGWTG alumni.

Kyle Kallgren was such a fudgepacker.
He had some talents but good God, he was the most arrogant person ever.
What’s funny about Channel Awesome is that it started as this grassroots, democratized media project, like, the people’s Siskel & Ebert, but instead of breaking the mold of old media, they just kind of speedran every pathology of it. Like, they didn’t just become critics: they became the most fart-sniffing, fainting couch-dramatic version of critics.

Imagine if the critics of yesteryear did some Channel Awesome crossover. Rex Reed shows up constantly swiping AmEx Black cards and wearing a tuxedo, that’s his thing. John Simon’s there too, but he’s doing this “Dr. Mengele in the Criterion Closet", he only reviews Streisand movies out of some long standing historical grievance. And then you’ve got Pauline Kael in a petticoat, watching nothing but films where women get raped on pinball machines, gasping and getting horny as hell.

And Alphaomegasin was there too. Wonder wtf happened to that dude
I recognise that name and don't know why, was he big in GamerGate? From the thumbnail I thought it was that guy who does all the video game acapella covers, but that's Smooth McGroove.

Looking at his channel everything stopped 2 years ago. Uploads, livestreams, community posts. Hopefully he did what Spoony should have done a decade ago, got offline and lived a productive life in the real world.

He did admit to be bisexual at one point when he was younger so yeah, he's a fudgepacker for real but I'm pretty sure he's a bottom. He looks like one.

As for arrogance? Yeah. He's full of himself and thinks himself the smartest person in the room.

The CA personalities, much like normal media personalities, all were egomaniacs looking to be validated and respected. They wanted others to view them as being great and at the top of the pyramid of their selected craft.

YouTube and other internet content platforms are paved with the fractured remains of these types of people.

The real crazy thing is knowing there was the forums for people to post their attempt to join CA, which led to a bunch of insane people. Some of them got in, like Rap Critic (who is still going.) While at the same time there is a swath of lost media videos of teenagers trying to be film brain.

YouTube has erased much of my teenage years. I'm still looking for any archives of MexicanXConnections fast food and 40 Oz challenge videos since they nuked drinktube years ago.

Yup.

they all thought this little nerd site was going to be their ticket to the big leagues. hollywood, working for marvel or nintendo, whatever. The fame they got from their little AVGN larp was fleeting, and only due to the draw of Doug's nerd clone persona. Even spoony more or less copied the nerd's formula, though like most clones he thankfully toned down the gratuitous swearing in place of actual humor.

But as the change the channel doc showed, they were all desperate to both be the fart sniffing, pretentious IRL jay sherman critics while also being the virtuous hollywood types who think if you disagree with them than you're a na-na-nazi. It also showed many of them were totally braindead from the start like Linsey when she was asking for coffee on the set of Kickassia. Spoony had to explain what the hell she meant and she took it personally.

And what did they do without doug? Most quit their little show after they found out they didn't have the pull to do it solo, are doing the same stale show over and over, or they went completely insane.

Almost makes me want to see a 20 year reunion of these twits. a bunch of embittered internet has-beens who all blame each other for their failures.
