It has now come out that this guy was a volunteer fighter in Ukraine. Curiously enough, his contract was only three months and oh he was also part of a AfD delegation that visited DPR/LPR before the war and now he's in Germany shilling for the AfD to become Pro-Ukraine war and for the energy transition, which is currently the primary factor leading to industrial collapse in Germany.
This guy is 100% a subversive plant.

You should look into the issue a bit more, not even the energy companies want to build nuclear power plants anymore.
The french company is now fully owned by the state, because they were not financially viable, the plant built in the UK is billions over budget and all modern French reactors have significant security issues caused by low quality metal used in cooling pipes, leading to fractures.

Add to that the fact that enriched uranium is required to run the plants, it would just be moving into a different type of energy reliance.
On top comes the still unresolved endstorage issue that will cost taxpayers trillions of $ or € to solve in the future.

I do not think the current nuclear fission plants are a long term solution.
I'd rather bring back online coal power plants and return to extracting our still significant coal resources instead.

i dont think its a short term, or even a medium-term solution, it's purely a long term solution

cuz it will be a money sink for a very long time, but considering the energy density difference, in terms of raw resource cost, it will save u money in the long tern

yes, coal is cheap, but u need a fuckton of coal to generate the same amount of power as a relatively small amount of nuclear fuel, so i think the fuel cost isnt that different

maintenance is the big one, but it can be overcome too i think




also iirc there are reactors that can run on the un-enriched stuff (like CANDU)

and if u make smth that can run on thorium, u can cut the fuel cost significantly, cuz thorium has very little demand nowadays cuz everyone uses reactor designs from the cold war era which can't run on thorium
 
The bigger issue here is that we still haven't found a better way to generate electricity other than boiling water.
