A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Wayne's son, Hefin, is the Senedd Member for Caerphilly and is a known cyber-bully who has threatened people and blocked people who dare oppose what he says. He's relied a lot on 'Daddy' to get by and also for 'Daddy's friends' to keep him out of trouble/the courts.

Hefin also publicly backed a Caerphilly Council Member who posed with a gun on Ogmore Beach near Bridgend saying 'fighting off English invaders'. This Council Member was arrested, charged and then removed from his position.

Watch over the next year or so changes to how independents can run, form parties and what happens to their party affiliation when they're elected and change/join parties.

Labour have got it badly wrong.

16/17 year olds may vote Left more than they do Right, but let's consider that the parties the Left kids will vote for are Lib Dems, Plaid, SNP and Greens (and, for two of these, only if they are pro-independence).

Added to the mix is the 'Jezbollah' party which will secure a good chunk of the Muslim votes if they're also not split with George Galloway's Workers Party.

That's six potential options, and (whatiffery moment) the Black Lives Matter Alliance, LGB Rights Party, Trans Rights Party, The Woke Party etc. all suddenly appear - that's eleven at least to choose from and kids will be under pressure to choose the 'correct' option... you didn't vote for BLM? Expect a mass kneelathon outside your house, bigot!

The Left vote will then be split, because Lefties always have to be seen as doing the right (or left) thing by doing as they're told and voting accordingly. 'If I vote Lib Dem, I can't vote for The Woke Party - that makes me a bad person as I believe in Wokery... oh what to do...sob sob.'

All that the Right then needs to do is to back Reform UK or the biggest 'Far Right' party and the split votes will ensure that, unless in certain seats where they have little chance of winning, Reform UK will win.

Let's not kid ourselves about Nigel's appeal - even kids who don't support Brexit recognise him and what he stands for... do they know their MP and what he/she stands for? Nigel's the rock star of politics, yes a Marmite character, but his profile is constantly amplified by the MSM who supposedly hate him and cannot stand him nor what he stands for. Just look at how many TikTok videos are about him, how many Question Time appearances, his show on GB News etc. No other leader, even Queer Keir, gets that level of 'amplification' and in the digital age this will be crucial.

Not every kid is going to vote Left either, and in rural and working class areas the vote is almost 100% going to Reform UK. In Wales, out of the current 32 Parliamentary Seats, 22 are likely to go to Reform with the other 10 going to Plaid (would be their high-water mark as a party). None for Labour, Conservative, Lib Dems or Greens where the 'Votes at 16' law was first introduced.

Kids will be expected to vote how they've been taught to think, but when a lot of teenagers are 'buying out' of what they've been told or are expected to do/like/watch then the influence of the Left is dissipating. When a friend of mine told me recently that his 12 year old son and his friends are into the following bands and not Taylor Swift or Ed Sheerhan my faith in humanity was restored:

One final thought - why with two days of Parliamentary business left until recess has this been fudged through? If Starmer has no qualms about how he was elected, and if his majority is superior to that of other parties, why not wait until the Conference in October and introduce it then?

I have my thoughts, but we'll see what happens...
