Wrong. German Maultaschen and Georgian Kinkhali are firmly dumplings and can't be eaten in one bite.
Giant dumpling.

I think we need to first define what a "dumpling" is before proceeding. It sounds like you're operating with a short/inexact definition which would mean every single pie is also a dumpling.

P. S. Lmao this nigga can't eat a khinkali in a single bite, small mouth havin ass

Why do Amerimutts deepfry everything?

Is Drumpf a Dumpling? Should Dumplings be renamed Drumpflings?

Would that leave more dumplings to Deer Feeder as libs won't be able to eat it anymore?

imo a dumpling is any food which uses a carb to completely seal in moisture of whatever is inside it, cooking it in its own juices and savory. this is the absolute peak of any food. I love dumplings in every cuisine I've ever had them in and I've noticed inferior cultures do not have dumplings. I am not referring to grain balls, I don't know why shit like Kartoffelkloesse or Knoedel is considered a dumpling.

dumplings are usually steamed/boiled..i make chicken and dumplings all the time.. the one and only time i made beef wellington, it was an overpriced piece of beef covered in mushrooms and things with a puff pastry encasing it all, and slowly baked in the oven. i guess it could be though, i looked it up and i guess some dumplings are baked. i usually make mine with flour, eggs, salt, pepper, sage, milk cut into diamond shapes/circles. and then simmered in chicken broth/stew that ive had on the back of the stove for hours.

I think the etymology of the word "dumpling" points to it initially being something (a dough based mass) you "dump" into a soup or broth.

By this definition - knoedels are dumplings, but khinkali are not.

I don't necessarily agree with this idea however I do think that to be a dumpling, the food must be TYPICALLY cooked with water. Boiling and steaming are the most common forms. Fried dumplings are an exception to the rule (deep fried pizza doesn't stop being pizza despite the unorthodox cooking method).

As such - spring rolls are not dumplings, gyoza are. Despite both being filling wrapped in dough and fried.

Ergo - beef Wellington, by way of not being typically cooked by steaming or boiling, is not a dumpling.

Baklava is a sweet dumpling? What if we take this to the extreme, would a pie just be a dumpling then? Technicly its filling surrounded by dough right? Does the dough have to be a certain shape? I see the poster above me said it had to be steamed or boiled... that kinda narrows it down quite a lot to a subset of doughy goodness. Does the dough have to be made a certain way with certain things? I never knew the etymology was that simple! I dont know why I thought it would be any more complicated but wow! I learned a new thing :).

I guess that would constrain the size to being that of fitting in a bowl of soup right? Ah so some can be fried? I guess spring rolls arent bite-sized for soup most of the time unless you get the cute mini spring rolls. I do agree honestly that Beef wellington is not a dumpling due to its size and makeup, especially the mushroom covering added over the beef. Maybe if they were mini sized and all wrapped in dough seperately alongside a nice soup

Could still be tasty inside after you scrape off all the burned stuff.
There's no way the idiot fuckup who fucked up the outside did the inside correctly.

It's like saying Jack Scalfani's chicken might be okay if you ignore the fact that it's clucking and squirting blood when you cut into it.
