The Daily Show and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race.
One of the times James Lindsay was spot on.

(transcript from the timestamp)
I do blame Jon Stewart for this uh overwhelmingly because also we were conditioned through the 90s and early 2000s The Daily Show in particular with this idea very broadly conditioned culturally that right-wing talking points whether for legitimate reasons or not, looking back at Fox News which was his typical Target of his jokes was something to be made fun of it was something embarrassing to a spouse it was something embarrassing to be associated with and kind of the cultural hip set especially of younger people no matter where they fell on the political Spectrum was that which is believed by Fox News or Fox News viewers is um risable it's something literally to be made fun of which creates a story with being with a spec you know being associated with those views and this has created the cultural condition that is really if you ask me you know what is the one thing that's enabled woke to flourish to the degree that it has it's this it's this cultural condition that being associated with anything that might show up on Fox News which isn't even that far right frankly uh and is just another tool of the regime frankly but anything that would show up on Fox that that is a instantaneously disqualifying thing so for example when The Grieving studies Affair came out we got calls from everybody and their mother to go on TV to be interviewed whatever and so Dr Carlson's people called us asked us to come on Laura Ingram's people called us asked us to go on and we said no to those invitations which I at this point regret but I remember talking with our friend Brett Weinstein about it at the time and his advice was sagacious it was because he had done with Evergreen he had gone on Tucker Carlson he had gone on Fox News and discussed it and he said it's up to you it's a balance you know how bread is it's a balance it's a trade-off you have to make your decision and you have to think it through you have to do what you think is best but what you do need to understand is at least at the 2018 cultural moment if you go on there there's no Bridge home that's the way he phrased it there is no Bridge home once you get that association association disappearing on Tucker Collison is the death note that you're forever discarded if you've ever that's right you will never get another invitation to a left-wing platform so either you go as they would put it full right-wing grifter or your career is over and then they will use that against you the second you appear on anything right wing

It's always funny when Bob retweets shit like this because it's so obvious he never reads. There's a rule given to writers: Always read more than you write. But Bob never followed this rule even when he wasn't writing. It's so obvious in his writing, his run on sentences, his shitty spelling, and his inability to get a point across in fewer words. But of course Bob thinks he's so smart that he can just say he reads books and everyone will believe him when in reality, it's obvious that he's a dullard.

I'm sorry if I have been away on watching the fall of MovieBlob, but in the runup to Superman did Blob magically become this amazing Superman lore scribe, acting like he read something beyond a Jeph Loeb or Grant Morrison TPB? Did he magically know everything about Dan Jurgens?

Off-topic a bit, but this is kind of an evergreen thing with Moviebob: him being mystified/offended at people not liking girlbosses. I could post this anywhere, but I figured it would get viewed the most here.

In terms even Bob can understand, why do so many people like superheroes? It isn't because they're strong and able, it's because of how they use that strength to be the good guys. Imagine if superheroes used their powers for selfish ends, to do things like rob banks and cheat in casino games, or fight gangs not to stop crime but for the aggrandizement of their own gang. Would you like them as much? Maybe if you had a mean streak. But they wouldn't be good role models or compelling characters you can empathize with. They'd just be pathetic, sociopathic gits (that's a britbong word btw) with gifts shielding them from the usual consequences.

Moreover, I doubt young children playing Nintendo would have liked the Mario Brothers as much if they didn't have unambiguously heroic goals involving liberating kingdoms and rescuing women and toad-people. There are older Mario games where Mario just... does his jobs. Are they as well-remembered as the adventures where they fight against Bowser? No. And that's for men with careers.

This is why people, including women, generally don't care about the achievements of girlbosses. They are almost always selfishly motivated. They don't solve major world problems or improve the lives of millions of people. And they have contempt for everyone not as superficially successful as them. Though they enjoy male privilege, it rarely dawns on them to want to date down and provide for a man, only adjusting their expectations upwards to higher-and-higher value men they can use as accessories, who end up hardly ever being interested in them. Even a guyboss as morally questionable as Bill Gates can claim to have revolutionized technology and entertainment in in irrevocably significant way. What girlboss has ever done that?

Even as a much-hated (by Tomi Lahren) "stay-at-home-son", I have still benefited my family and neighbors and enriched the lives of my friends far more than any girlboss I can think of, even with my lack of resources. I don't have a childish attitude of the world revolving around me and needing to fit my sensibilities exclusively.

Snyder's Man Of Steel, in 2012, grossed $670M for a production cost of $260M. So far, Gunnman grossed $337M against a production cost of $225M. Adjusting for inflation, Gunnman needs to rake in $940M to be as popular as Man Of Steel. This looks hopeless. And if Gunnman REALLY taught people like Glenn Waldorf kindness, he wouldn't call someone he doesn't know "illiterate condescending bastard".

This is why Bob is a lolcow and Maul Cop isn't: Robert has overshared to the point that anyone wanting to take the piss out of him can easily do so. Maul Cop, to my knowledge, has not.

But of course Bob thinks he's so smart that he can just say he reads books and everyone will believe him when in reality, it's obvious that he's a dullard.
I've noticed that there are a lot of people who, as it were, identify as readers but who don't actually read. They're the type of people who would read -- educated, academic in their self-expression -- but they make it through a few books per year at most. Perhaps they did read a lot before they got smartphones. They haven't come to grips with the fact that they haven't been active readers in years, a little bit like people who used to be popular, tough, successful, or sexually desirable, and who still identify as such.

They're like everyone else who gatekeeps something these days... enamored with the concept of other people doing it as a means to support them. While not partaking of it themselves.

This one hits very close to home, brother. No one really appreciates the son that stayed behind but they don't also don't consider how easily you could have fallen into the neet-discord-tranny pipeline. More power to you for not being one of them.

Though in the old days, it was far more common for people to share the same house anyway. I don't know what made things change, but somewhere along the line people wanted their kids to move out, or the kids themselves wanted to move out. I guess that evolved into a social standard eventually, although most of the home-leavers these days do it out of spite rather than ambition. ...And the ones that stay usually don't do anything for themselves.

Bob needs to face the fact that he's just too flagrantly unlikable, with no charisma or anything to offset it, to be palatable to the majority of people. That, more than anything, is why he never became a Hollywood bigshot, or whatever the fuck his aspirations are.

Also the fact that his his laziness is really at odds with his aspirations.

---

And being on the outside looking in, I have not seen anything that Bob has produced that would lead me to believe that that he was destined for greatness. Just those Game Overthinker videos, with the dumb, horrible looking skits , and the constant "If you prefer gaming on any system besides Nintendo, you are objectively wrong" messaging. He just has an out-of-control ego, and he can't stand that the world isn't impressed by that.

Oh yeah, and there was also that Brick By Brick book he wrote, which he STILL doesn't seem to understand makes him look sad and kinda pathetic more than anything else.
