Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

A standard M4 Mac mini gets a preset of Texture Quality: High, 1920x1080p, full screen, with MetalFX set to Dynamic Resolution Scaling, sharpness of 0.5, target FPS of 30, min resolution 50%, max resolution 80% and ray tracing disabled.
This is interesting to me since that shows that the Switch 2 release is still outperforming a Mac mini due to it having RT on both handheld and docked, if CDPR released an update to toggle it on or off on S2 it'd offer a big performance boost if it's handling about the same as the mini with it on.

They haven't even finished Witcher 4, and they're already thinking of making a sequel to this?

This is going to be Saints Row tier sequel where they use the same engine, same assets, tweaked city and use whatever astroturfed celebrity that's popular on Reddit to get press. They're gonna dump this out before Witcher 4 even hits alpha.

This auto drive feature is dogshit and really shows how awful their pathing is. Your car constantly comes to screeching halts to take turns, is endlessly brake pumping, and if something gets in the way there's a good chance you'll just stall because the game doesn't know how to turn you around. Like you can tell path finding is fucked just by watching the NPCs drive and walk, but it's really rough when you can see it happening to you.
Like real life autodriving cars.

i mean it'll be a different city (something reportedly based on chicago but worse), probably use ue5, they may use some assets with modifications to save time modeling things overall, and i mean they'll probably use a celebrity but idk who they'll pick

There's no fucking way they make the setting a new city. Night City is the main character of Cyberpunk, and if they have forgotten that, then there is no hope for any sequel.

"Chicago gone wrong." In what way? Incompetent government tainted by corporate greed? Night City. A large manufacturing Center left to rot after either being pushed out or having cheaper solutions overseas? Night City? A disgusting, crime-riddled urban sprawl? NIGHT FUCKING CITY.

There is no reason to change the setting because any story you want to tell in a futuristic, despotic Chicago can be done in Night City.

I get that Night City still appears to be the main location, but I don't understand the need to add Chicago, of all places. A secondary location would need to be some dystopian utopia for the corpos, which would make for a good clash of settings and ideals in Cyberpunk.

Had to look up the price. $599 for the standard mac mini gives you an ok experience of the game.

its not explicitly chicago, just chicago turned up to 11. im expecting something like dogtown but on a citywide scale for whatever this location is. theres far worse places in the world of cyberpunk than just night city after all
So normal Chicago with more cybernetic arms. I'm at least down for a less sunbaked desert locale even if I think Night City can have a shitload more use before its 'spent'. A chiraq stand in would potentially have less people immigrating despite it being a literal cesspit. They might be able to do something different with it.

Yeah. Probably need Digital Foundry or someone to do a deep dive into the Mac version, see what the differences are.

tbh, part of the reason it's so interesting is seeing such a demanding game for a platform that doesn't exactly have the best reputation for games. Although CDPR's done a pretty good job of bringing games to Mac in the past, either by themselves or through a porting studio.

It does actually seem to be pretty demanding as well, there's some scattered reports of M1 Pros being unable to run it, or giving a very low FPS.

I fully expect Chicago is the third game with this one being a stop on the magtrain line between the two other cities, Chicago's too big of an original component of the tabletop game's lore books to be blown out on the second game.

At least Human Revolution is honest about Detroit's status as a shithole ever since it quit being the Motor City.

With all the payment processor stuff going on today, made me realise that they're not an issue in Cyberpunk 2077 at all. In real life they'll fuck with your ability to buy and sell firearms but in game not a single peep, you can just walk into a gun store, buy weapons, ammo and weapon attachments even the highly regulated suppressors, same with buying whores and BDs at no point does a payment processor step in and say you're not allowed to buy that as it'll affect our reputation. What a crazy dystopia.

When the same half dozen megacorps own all the payment processors, the weapons foundries, the BD studios, and the cybernetic vaginas attached to the whores, any "reputational damage" is inconsequential as there's nowhere else the market can go. In other words, when Unilever starts buying up firearms companies and media outlets, be very worried.

edit: that was a joke i have no idea if that's actually true in universe
