It's also cheaper for them to just let anything go and only intervene when they get reports than it is to hire people to manually vet every new release. Moderation in itself is probably murky to handle since a lot of hugely-popular triple-A games have sex scenes too, and where you place the line between decency and indecency is subjective - which is an issue the payment processor rule also helps them avoid dealing with, since it basically boils down to "we'll delete stuff if we're told to" rather than having to define the boundaries themselves.
They actually have a moderation team that reviews new games. It's very small (~6-12 people), and infamously one of them is your true believing, purple haired, pronouns in bio SJW freakjob. They actually infamously have been harassing the shit out of Japanese devs for years -- if you put your game up on Steam and just happen to get the SJW, you're fucked. They'll deny it, ban it, and there's absolutely transparency or appeals process. There have been many niche and even A or AA Japanese devs and localization publishers like PQube complaining about this -- they often move to GOG over it.

The theory was this was a racist little freak doing it becuase "anime is the male gaze" or somesuch shit, which is why "Sex with Hitler 3: Seig Howdy" is allowed but some DRPG game with girls in bikinis like Tokyo Clanpool is an instant permaban. The fact that they're caving to payment processors seems like it's just the next step of MasterCard's power play over online commerce to me.

Just a question, sorry if its been answered already and my dumb ass didn't see it... but is there an actual list somewhere of what games this new Steam rule caused to get removed? All I've heard is that like 100 games got hit but anyone can make up a three-digit number.

If Cyraxx wasn’t tricked into bricking his PC, he’d be devastated over this news.

If there's more, it's probably in this thread:

Looks like the only thing that's gonna be put in a Tranny Rape Camp is Phil's bank account.

Also I will say that as funny as the trannies getting their coom taken away is, outright banning these games from the platform is almost certainly going to get them more attention than they ever would've gotten before. Half of them look like shovelware that probably had like 10 concurrent players but now tens of thousands of people are gonna suddenly be aware they exist, so it kinda feels a little self-defeating if the goal was to make these games get less traction.

This happened a little while back with that one rape game that got yeeted off of steam and got attention in the gayming discourse. The usual suspects did their song and dance about "lel the chuds are mad a rape game got banned xdddd", but then the company behind the game just said okay and sold the game on their own site instead and got like a 1500% increase in purchases over what they ever got on Steam (and the got to keep all the profits) just because of the free publicity from their shitty game being banned.

As I said, new scores of "lost media" dropped to get Streisanded.

The fact that anyone on the Farms is in favor of censorship is fucking insane.
I'm sorry, I'm just seeing that you're crying that your porn is getting taken away. Pornography should be made illegal and anyone with a porn addiction should be thrown into camps.

Fellow kiwis, who to hate more here?

“Ana” because fuck troons or Vice for cucking out to the payment kikes?
""Ana"" himself will happily throw his own bosses under the bus and has said on numerous occasions (indirectly so he doesn't get fired) that they have no journalistic integrity every time they dare to take down his shitty glorified blogpost articles, and Vice commits the sin of employing pederastic faggots like phil in the first place.

All in all, they're both equally bad, but seeing them shit all over each other is simply good entertainment. Fuck em both, toss them both into a giant wok.

Jokes aside, I shed no tears for Valens being shitcanned. The fact that he thought he would receive actual journalistic protection from Savage Ventures after his trackrecord for VICE being writing slop shill articles about futanari vore hentai games (and when he wasn't doing that, writing hitpieces about VTubers that earned him C&Ds) is really, really funny. Nigga thought he would have actual journalistic protections like he was actually respected, when in reality all VICE saw him as was an easy mark to write goonerslop. Him being shitcanned after rocking the boat too hard and VICE bending the knee is the least surprising thing ever.

I am conflicted.

I hate payment processors. I hate Ana Valens. I hate VICE. I hate rape and incest.
What a fucking mess, I don't even know whose side to take lol
i hate trannies and everything that made them what they are so for once ill take the processors' side. an uneasy truce.

We just enjoy seeing trannies suffer over getting their coom taken away.
don't get me wrong, i don't want censorship. i just want trannies to lose their coom. it was just unexpected to see the processors do it for once.

This situation is a conflict between two great evils, each managing to coincidentally strike a positive note in their otherwise nefarious efforts.

A faggot troon journo degenerate pervert, raging over the loss of their disgusting fetish content, takes an anti-censorship position in the process. However this same faggot troon journo degenerate pervert would suck dick for cock if it meant censorship would be used to stop people from pointing out the fact that he is a man.

Payment processing kike scumbags lashing out at anything that presents even a slight risk to their bottom line strike a censorious blow against the porn industry, perhaps the only effective way to combat it without actual legislative intervention. Yet these same payment processing kike scumbags actively seek to deny us the ability to use and post on this, the greatest website still active.

Is it necessary for any of us to take a side here? Is it hypocritical to be against payment processor censorship, but not care when it is used for the objective good that is stopping pornography?

Despite the fact that they have used their powers for good in this particular instance, I personally find it very difficult to applaud the payment processors, especially because the scope of their actions is relatively narrow. Had they managed to single-handedly destroy the porn industry, or at least put the same effort into combating it that they have put into denying Null money, I would be more tempted to give them a begrudging W.

However all they have really accomplished is a slight decrease of the pornographic material on one platform. They didn't even get rid of all the porn on Steam. In truth no one has done anything worth calling good here. Any positive that might be claimed by the actions of the payment processors is undercut by the inherent evil of their ability to take those actions, and how limited the results are. The troon being against censorship when it suits him is unabashed hypocrisy, the concept of journalistic integrity comes from remaining neutral and reporting the facts, not consistently taking a given side, and neither form is found here anyway.

Therefore it stands to reason that the only principled position to be taken regarding this incident is a strong condemnation of everyone involved.
