I'm trying to convince a normie about why defending PBS/NPR is a good thing, here's what I got so far:

1: When was the last time your cable/streaming service has a PBS channel? (for a weird reason, only Spectrum has it. not Hulu, Fubo, etc. weird)
2: If you do have PBS, Have you watched any shows from PBS in the past year? (The majority of PBS's work now is PBS Kids, followed by cooking shows, traveling shows, and then news/British shows for my network)
3: Everyone has access to the internet, which has all of those things combined and with more effort than PBS. The only real loss, you can argue, is PBS Kids, but 3rd party Kids channels can take over, as well as archives of PBS shows. (How many times could you realistically teach the alphabet?)
4: NPR is notoriously biased, and while so is talk radio for conservatives, the main goal of PUBLIC radio is to provide a non-biased perspective.

Me personally, if PBS didn't air any news at all, i'd be more for not defunding it.

A long time ago NPR was decent, back when domestic propaganda was still illegal.

It would be nice if anti propaganda laws were bought back where news sources cannot lie or misinform the people with half truths, and media that's not news just opinions have a two weeks or one month blackout where they can't talk about current events until after the blackout.

I think a lot of people, mostly on the left but also on the right, and also all over the world, are having a bit of an existential crisis right now.
