Bad webcomics

I believe what it's specifically mocking is that democrats talk a lot about donald trump ruining everything, but have done basically nothing to stop that happening (because a: it's a load of hyperbolic horseshit and b: they don't have power to do anything, anyways)

This doesn't change the fact that 'Jennie Breeden' shouldn't be given scissors provisions if this is her level of logic, but there are two coherent, if irreconcilable, stances she's trying to merge here.
Ah. So the reason the comic was made was to scold Democrats for not being woke enough and destroying America more that they already have. What an insightful, scathing condemnation of both sides.

So, where's the Democrat belief of the strawman? What is the strawman? What is the fucking point nigga?
You missed it because your brain isn't broken enough. The right-wing thing is wanting them to destroy things, and the left-wing thing is to do nothing, inaction. In addition to being stupid and not very funny in general, the left is now known for causing millions of dollars in damages from riots and assorted actions of domestic terrorism when they don't get their way, they've been doing something constantly, it's just stupid an ineffective. Further, the obvious classic target for accusations of doing nothing is the slow ass conservatives who don't like change, not the radical progressives who want change at all costs. So the comic is also totally delusional!

I guess that makes sense at the end of the day. If comedy is a hyperbolic representation of relatable reality, which makes it funny, surely a hyperbolic representation of unrelatable non-reality would miss the mark.

As well as centrists for "being in the middle of these stances." (Rather than centrists seeing most radicals in either direction as hyperbolic bedwetters.)

Basically, Jennie's having a crashout at just about the entire political spectrum right now.

It's sad just how far liberals have fallen in their TDS. I kind of get it, Jen married a hispanic dude and she's probably hearing all those stories about Mexicans getting scooped up even if they are citizens, but she should not be this deluded by social media when at 45 she should be fully aware that the News is trying to frighten you into buying shit. Get off the goddamn phone and spend some time with your kids.

What does science say about men cutting off their dicks and injecting hormones? What does science say about average IQ by race? How is teaching "if you are white you are an oppressor just by existing?" education?
The I Love Science crowd is very selective of the tenets of their religion that they practice.

I'm not even sure of the politics of this. Because the "Democratic Party" seems to be all for destroying education, science, and democracy. After all, a tiny minority should be able to tell us that biological sex doesn't even exist, the vast majority should be completely ignored, and education should be turned into teaching children about fisting and castration.

"Science" - as in, the institutions which control the access to funding, publication, education, and promotion for would-be scientists - has and will say whatever the prople in charge of these institutions want them to say on these subjects. And with a few honorable exceptions, individual scientists have and will prove that they prefer a comfortable bed to Truth.

I hate this one and the other one that's similar, I believe its drawn with no lines, strange color palette, and has bizarre looking female creatures that the artist obviously wants to fuck.
I finally found who I was thinking of, Shane Frost.

I looked up the name out of curiosity and got an art tumblr, a furaffinity, and two news articles about a Shane Frost being brought on on sex crimes against children and thought "yeah, sounds about right" but fortunately it seems as if the news articles were about a different Shane Frost. It just goes to show... uh... nothing at all, I still wouldn't rule it out with these types of artists.

The problem is that fake science literally just doesn't work. Stalin could force "science" to say Lysenkoism was a great idea and totally worked, but reality would still disagree.

Fake science doesn't work in agriculture, chemistry, physics, etc., where knowing more things about the subject matter directly increases your ability to manipulate it. But in the social sciences, the incentives between making public true facts about the subject and achieving, uh, "engineering results" are, shall we say, misaligned.

If it’s not based in math it’s not a science.
Economics is almost all math but it isn't a science, either. It's every bit pseudoscientific as critical race theory or women's studies. If you can't run an actual controlled study, it's not a science, it's just new-age woo "backed" by cherrypicked statistics that just magically happen to "confirm" your "model".

I know this is a thread about webcomics so reading comprehension is out the window, but that’s not what I wrote. I didn’t write “if it’s based on mathematics it’s a science,” I wrote “If it’s not based on mathematics it’s not a science,” meaning a mathematic basis is principle for something to be a science.

Reactions: Greasy Goblin
Rosalarian went on a 1 page/week break during May and June, but now she's finally back to posting two pages a week of her comic Magical Women, so posting about it doesn't feel like a form of fucking Chinese water torture. (My last post was here.)

So what all has changed since we last took a peek? Let's crack open Issue 2.
1753435209142.webp1753435224008.webp
Issue 2 opens up with a flashback to better times when the team was all together... except apparently they've always been prone to viciously sniping at each other in petty, mean girl ways. Rosalarian's misogyny leaps out very strongly in this issue as she seems to believe women are incapable of ever getting along with one another, putting each other down for things as trivial as weight when apparently there's a monarchistic bug alien overlord who threatens to overtake the Earth. Yeah, I think I can see why he won.

This page had some commenters speculate that Violet (the dark-haired girl) has romantic inclinations towards Rose (the blonde one), but it's not entirely unheard of for women to share makeup with one another. (Is it unsanitary? Yeah, but it's not unheard of.) Also, I think this is Rosalarian's attempt to imply that Violet is transgender because she implies she doesn't like to be seen as a girl, as Violet is sporting a hideous pedo-stache in the "present time" version of themselves featured here. Since that picture is a picture for ants, let me showcase the full-sized ones side by side so you can see what I mean.

Unlike Issue 1, every page in this issue is fucking comedy gold. Firstly, Rose's teammates are so wildly incompetent that they can't even hope to fight against the invasion of the locust people - they just immediately get their asses kicked. Second, Rose is somehow completely ignorant to the fact that there is an apparent alien invasion and willfully ignores any attempts to reach out to her. That's not failing to save the world as is implied in the tagline, that's choosing to fail the world. Amazing.
1753435702139.webp
And instead of taking up arms against intergalactic baddies to save the world, Rose is... learning remedial math in college? Her internal monologue is downright pathetic and further indicative of Rosalarian's personal misogyny; of the women I've known who capitulate to men's egos, it's usually more along the lines of "I don't want to hurt his feelings and make him feel stupid" rather than "I want to make him feel smart so I don't die alone." Jesus, Ro, no wonder you pooned out.

And now we've reached the latest page in which Rose's marriage crumbles because she's a fat piece of infertile shit. The dialog between these last two pages is so on the nose, so lacking in subtlety, it feels like I'm reading a parody. The implication that her nameless husband won't wipe his ass because he thinks it's gay is just... you just can't beat that. This comic hates everybody, and I cannot wait for more.
I likely won't do page-by-page updates just to not clog up the thread - maybe bi-weekly, if anyone cares for it. Personally, it's becoming everything I hoped for and more, and I didn't even talk at length about the art quality! Ah, truly such a skillful creative. You can really tell she's had multiple comics and 20 years of experience under her belt, can't you?
