Last I seen it was in the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. Contacting people within to make amendments to the bill, and others. Since it's in the committee, best to start there with phone calls and the like.

I was asked about the Fair Access to Banking Act.

It is insufficient. The only recourse for being debanked by the card networks is to cry to the OCC. They have to impose a fine ($10k max).

SEC v. Jarkesy effectively made ALJs unable to enforce fines.

I might write an opinion explaining in detail why the bill is mostly good in theory but completely toothless in practice.

In order for this bill to succeed in helping people, you'd need a ton of people contacting their congressional representatives asking not only to support the bill, but to specifically create statutory relief, add punitive damages, and even add attorney's fees and costs so that suing the payment networks is viable for little guys. The entire issue is financial and if it's not worth the money to sue nobody will.

On top of the OCC being unable to even enforce a fine, we have had issues where these reliefs are never brought about. In Washington State, we were deplatformed by Tier 1 ISP @henet. Washington, despite having net neutrality laws that strongly favored us, refused to pursue any penalties against HE (probably for political reasons).

I really don't know if it's possible to make this work. People are too busy being angry about random clowns in Australia to sit down and think over how they're getting fucked, nevermind how to fix it.

It can work. Doesn't mean it will, nothing is guaranteed. Save in the cases where people do nothing, in which case it is guaranteed to not work. Pardon the Positive Pollying, but you are blessed (after much hard work) with a platform to speak on and an audience to speak to. Those clippers on YouTube? See if they will post videos of you talking about this very issue and policies pertaining to it. Those clips can then be shared in various spaces soon, hopefully reaching a larger figure and getting more widespread attention.
