One can also imagine that his manager simply didn't wanted to be too critical of Joeyray's son. It was clear he wasn't doing anything, so instead of being fired, he got moved to the Battle.net thing. It's a solution: QA coworkers can stop complaining, and the manager did his job, somewhat.
A year or two later the same thing would happen, Blizzard would want to move maldy again (b.c he doesn't do anything) and that's when he went to Amazon, as he said before. He knew they were moving him to another shitty position within Blizzard.

I have to quote this for people who can't/won't watch the clip, it's astounding and such a Maldism.

The feedback that I received from management was that there was a perception that I wasn't doing my job.

There was a perception that I wasn't doing my job and my response to my manager was "Am I doing my job?" and he goes, "You're amazing. You're doing fantastic, you're doing more than most people here." And I said... "Ok, so what's the problem then?"

Mald also clearly has zero developer experience if he expects to be specially compensated for developing a custom tool to do his job. You know who comes up with tools to make their own lives easier? Developers everywhere. If he bothered to run his idea by his manager or someone he probably could have had them pay for parts for a test run using the office budget since it was cheap but they're probably beneath him. Joeyray's son shouldn't have to ask for anything.
