So we all know the meme that the Simpsons predicts the future.
But honestly... Mickey Mouse is the other prophet whose works we need to go back and analyze.
Just for example:
The Brave Little Taylor short is basically Attack on Titan before Attack on Titan. It even has Mickey doing a version of that three-dimensional battling the anime would later have.
There's one cartoon where Mickey is putting on a stage show, and Donald gets so fed up he brings a shotgun on stage and starts firing at the audience. I'm... pretty sure I read this really happened somewhere.
@Reticulan Joe pointed out recently in a Deep Thoughts topic that the Fantasia cartoon "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" (that's the one where Mickey uses magic to make brooms do the work automatically) basically predicted AI, including all its shortcomings and downfalls.
And just for Rule of Three filling out... there's one Mickey and Donald cartoon about them putting on a stage show, but somehow Donald gets so angry he brings a shotgun on stage and starts firing on the audience! (Sorry, I can't remember which short this was--the one thing I can say is it must've been one of the color ones because footage from it was featured in the TV movie "Down and Out With Donald Duck").
So there's so many ways you can read that, but let's just say it predicted the 2012 Aurora Theater Shooting.
..................
But here I think is where there's a difference between Mickey and Simpsons, which perhaps makes Mickey's prophecies harder to spot: Simpsons tends to be a lot more direct and obvious, whereas Mickey's prophecies are usually behind a layer of abstraction (magic brooms instead of literally robots).
Still, perhaps we should start watching the work of our hidden prophet and see what else the mouse has predicted for our future?
