How the fuck is Lysandre not dead? He was practically vaporised.
I'm sorry, did you think Pokemon could be healed fully from injuries that would lead to literal death in an instant, but not that each human has a bail out system installed to digitize their bodies and teleport them to the nearest pokemon center at the first sign of impending doom?

It's called whiting out. Nothing like the old days when Red had to shuffle back to the center on foot sneaking past wild Pokemon to not get mauled.

Gotta hit all those checkboxes in the [current year].
Meanwhile in Digimon:

This is Pokefan cope. Digimon fans are currently gearing up for what's looking to be a feast of spectacle in Digimon Story Time Stranger and have had a slew of decent games recently if the Digimon Thread is anything to go by.
Pokemon fans have always bitched about how digimon is a ripoff of pokemon, but that’s a halfwit mindset. While TPCI has been pushing slop, digimon’s had to become more creative over the years. Bandai’s had to put in more work over the last few years and it’s begun to show in a tortoise and the hare sort of way.

I dipped out and didn’t see anything related to the TCG, but anything they could announce would mean fuckall. When less than 5% of the people who buy your product actually play and your main customers now are resellers, gambling addicts and weak willed retards that wait outside of stores in order to buy the store out then you can’t really do much to save face there.

There is rumors that he could be immortal like AZ now, due to X's plot revolving around gaining eternal life. There is also the Team Flare symbol on the gamer chair, but it's white instead of red. Neo-Team Flare, ala Black White 2? Probably, Gamefreak can't write a new story to save their lives, everything has to be rehashed a million times.

This right here is what Lysandre was trying to prevent

Still, this does raise a good question: How are these people still free despite being the closest thing we have to Pokemon nazis so far? I guess Kalos is a corrupt shithole, hence why Lysandre wanted to cleanse it in the first place.
This is just an excuse for me to sperg about the Pokemon Special manga, but I thought it funny you said that as a joke because the manga actually had that as a plot point unironically. There's a plot twist about halfway through the XY arc where it turns out that Team Flare is able to so easily get away with things because they have many supporters in high places in society such as politicians and CEOs, who are all on board with Lysandre's whole talk about making resources more sustainable by wiping out the riffraff of society to reduce population. Team Flare even has complete control of traditional media in Kalos, allowing them to manipulate the news to hide their activities from the public and smear and frame those that find out and oppose them.

And then there's a further plot twist towards the end where it turns out Lysandre was playing the long game and actually planned to start his purge of society with his own supporters, who he considers the real scum of humanity. Lysandre spent years trying to improve society through normal altruistic donations and organizations, but found he could never make any huge progress because that would be detrimental to the elites who benefit off society as it is. So he made an organization whose ideology deliberately played into the elite's hubris and attracted selfish assholes who thought themselves better than others, so he could use them until he obtained ultimate power via the legendary Pokemon and could wipe them all out. The Team Flare grunts had to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars each to get into Team Flare under the pretense that it was paying for their high-tech suits that would protect them from the Ultimate Weapon's blast, but that was actually bullshit, they're just regular suits and they were being led by a false sense of security into being right in the blast zone of the Ultimate Weapon.

At the end of the arc, it's explicitly stated that Lysandre and other members of Team Flare are basically serving as fall guys while the rich donators who supported them are using their power to keep the Flare scientists from talking to anyone in prison that might lead to further investigation.

I'm really disappointed that the authors are too busy nowadays just doing the main game story arcs (SV right now) to do side games like Legends, because I'd really want to see where they'd go with an XY sequel.

This wouldn't even be the first time corrupt politicans were part of the game's main story. Both Orre games had this as part of their plotpoint too, with the mayor in Colosseum being part of Cipher and intentionally keeping your investigation going in circles while conveniently helping the thugs get what they want, meanwhile in Gale of Darkness one of the admins is a senator who is implied to not just control the same city as in Colosseum now but also sway what makes up this universe's local government in Cipher's favor. It is also implied that one of the reasons that the terrorist attack at the start never gets much traction or police investigation is because he is keeping things under wraps, hell it might be the reason why the whole region is so lawless in the first place. You can do so much with this kind of storytelling, but instead we get the same cookie cutter stories every single year with the mainline games.
I heard the Black and White manga is incredibly edgy, what with casual crucifixions and what have you.

I just watched the Pokémon Presents video after missing it this morning, I honestly don't regret it since the only thing that really grabbed my interest were the Shiny Treasure of Ruin Tera Raids (I'm glad to see that they're FINALLY coming but it's a shame that it's being done in the same style as SWSH's Shiny Zeraora Dynamax Raid event).

The Worlds stuff is kind of meh, I may be going as an spectator but I'm not exactly pleased with the lack of announcements/reveals. Hell, people are already giving TPCi shit for how they handled reservations for the Pokémon Center Pop-Up Shop that Worlds is going to have yesterday.

Oh, and the Aardman collab is kind of what I expected. I know people wanted to see Pokémon in Aardman's in-house style but that would require all of the watchdogs within the Pokémon pipeline to sign off on it. As far as it looking like CGI is concerned I think that's due to a combination of the claymation being too "clean" and possibly some digital VFX being used (a lot of the effects involving Sirfetch'd and Pichu smell of it).
IIRC there was a theory that, at least in Pokémon X's case, Lysandre is technically alive (and immortal due to Xerneas' power over life) but was just trapped under the rubble of what used to be Team Flare's secret HQ.

That's because of Lysandre's final line before he fires the Ultimate Weapon onto itself. As far as I know, it's like the only line that's different between X and Y that isn't just find-and-replacing Xerneas for Yveltal.
X: "Sycamore’s pupils... Let us live forever... That’s right! I shall grant you eternal life! I’ll give you the pain of endlessly waiting for a beautiful world to finally be built!"
Y: "Sycamore’s pupils... The ultimate weapon is a flower that bloomed to no avail... Just like me... But this ends here! I will show you what its remaining power can do!"

I think the big issue here is that Nintendo and game freak are essentially keeping everything to themselves because even with the worst Pokemon games they can drum up.

Also, this confirms all of the Ballguy leaks to be true and as somebody that was in that server and has been tracking the leaks for this game for the past almost 8 months it feels like I can finally breathe and talk about them.

Warning because there's basically zero hype on the board, I feel like I'll share some stuff because at least it gives us something to talk about.

DEM Leaks

This game is following the scarlet and violet approach and there's going to be like three different stories, a true ending, and postgame episodes.

There's the detective art where the MZ squad, emma, zygarde, and Lysander to discover what's going on with team Quasar.

There is a mafia saga which we saw a bit of today and the dudes were hired by team quasar to basically deal with anybody that's getting in the way of their plan.

There's of course the Za Royale which has side quest tied to its other inhabitants.

Then there's the true story which focuses on Ange which the best I can describe is essentially like Hal from space Odyssey or an AI ultimate weapon .

I'm not going to go into deeper story stuff beyond that but you get the gist.

There's 27 Mega evolutions
Gen One

. Dragonite
. Clefable - it becomes a fairy / flying type and gets a darker coloring behind its wings similar to Gengar but its ears resemble Granbulls's

. Victeribel - it basically becomes like a poison Cannon with its Vine wrapped around its stomach.

. Starmie- this one grows longer legs and resembles the starman from EarthBound.

Gen 2.

Meganinum -it becomes a grass/fairy and gains if fleur-de-lis around its neck.

Feraligatr - it gets a red skull helmet thing on his head and the best way I can describe it is that it's like a cross between Druddugon and Ironman also it's water/Dragon

Skarmory -it becomes gold and a lot more sharper.

There is no gen 3 Megas lol.

Gen 4
Froslass - she becomes more oni like and her kimono sort of stretches out to make her look more like a Yuki On a.

Gen 5
Emboar- probably has the most changes out of the Za starters as he gains a fire spear and looks like Zhu Bajije from journey to the West complete with like a fire monk suit.

Scrafty- basically picture gear 5 Luffy's coloration and apply it to the base design.

Scolipede- it becomes more darker and has a bit more gray and it has various poisonous spikes sticking out of it and kind of looks something straight out of berserk.

Chandulure -it gets a lot more fancy gaining two extra handles on it and it's surrounded by ghostly flames (if you've ever seen how it looks in Pokken whenever it uses a synergy boost you basically know what I mean).

Excadrill - it gets a silver plate on its chest and its head and to claws end up becoming more pronounced drills that are orange and red.
When it performs specific attacks it curls up and turns into a spiral.

Electross- it takes cues from its pre-evo Tyamo and becomes like a railgun whenever it does specific attack animations and can either float or crawl around.

Gen 6
Chesnaught -he becomes more Arthurian as he gains a spiky crown on his head, those two spikes that you see on his arms become orange Shields, and he gains a fur like cape that covers his back (I'm thinking something Sir Arthur from Ghost and goblins ).

Delphox- she becomes a straight-up witch and now has a witch hat and her stick is now her broom but additionally she can control other brooms that she uses for Kamikaze purposes.

Greninja- basically take Ash Greninja, and give him the coloration of his shiny but mix it in with the blue and you have how he looks but he's on a giant water shuriken that he hangs from upside down and uses it for various attacks like in Smash

Pyroar-the main resembles a diamonji (the symbol of fire blast) and it has a fiery aura surrounding the body.

Hawlucha- he gains a tiger mask aesthetic where his feathers are black, gold, and a mix of his original red but specifically the mass portion is all white so you can't see his eyes like Rey Mysterio .

Barbarcle- he becomes an Ashura and getting some black coloring surrounding his fist and becomes a rock/ fighting type.

Az Floette- the poor thing effectively fuses with its flower and becomes kind of like a miniature ultimate weapon and the best way to describe it would be to think of Bayleef's beta or the original cut design of Florgres.

Zygarde -basically take complete zygarde and make him all green and mixing some white and he has a gigantic Cannon that looks like the original ultimate weapon on his back.

Gen 7.
Drampa- it becomes more Viking like and it's original clouds turn black and gray like it's supposed to be a thunderstorm and he looks a lot more vicious.

Zeraora - it exists but there's not much information on it it's just in the code.

Gen 8
Falinks - they become Voltron but they're also a reference to that legendary hero statue in Motostoke.

I did a lot of paraphrasing here but I do like how diverse the selection is, and I think it is a shame that at least a few of these weren't shown off today.

How the fuck is Lysandre not dead? He was practically vaporised.
It's basically implied to my understanding that zygarde has power over necromancy and he sort of the new AZ.

I've also seen it stated that Jett and even the rival are most likely his wife and child respectively so I kind of see it as a way of him witnessing what he left behind and helping you stop it kind of like a Ebenezer Scrooge situation.

Unironically my least favorite mon; just so fucking irrelevant (but it is a good niche, tbh). No wonder why Game Freak remembered and chose this piece of shit. Not like Kalos had a stacked regional dex anyway.

If this looks Sectonia from Kirby, I might really dig it.

Thanks for posting that image, I was looking for it earlier today and couldn't find it at full size, Dragonite's and Scrafty's descriptions are spot-on so we can assume these are real. Most of these sound like they will suck except for Meganium and Scolipede (and maybe Drampa, Delphox and Falinks). Also aren't Mega Skarmory's colors basically the base form's shiny?

Why do I keep coming back to this series? It's just mashing A for 8 gym leaders every game, or mashing A in turbo on an emulator. Nostalgia a hell of a drug.
That is a big part of why Pokémon substitutes do not necessarily work: they tend t occupy different niches.
Take Megami Tensei, a cyberpunk series where you wield mythological deities in an adult environment then choose between being a stereotypical Christian, Satanist, or Übermensch. Meanwhile, Pokémon is about going into the world and proving that you and your friends are the bes through skill and friendship, while beating the bad guys is a side hustle. That shows how you handle your party: whereas Pokémon eventually expects you to train a full team of 6 of your favourites, Megami Tensei expects you to keep fusing weaker Personæ into stronger ones. Thes expectations form the gameplay.

That is a big reason why a lot of games rip off Pokémon: the core concept and gameplay work tonnes, even with its flaws. They also leave a lot of room where you can take things into new directions…
*looks a the new Pokémon Direct*
…even if not all of those directions are good. Then again, how many here sincerely enjoyed the Switch games?

I feel like Nintendo is incredibly out of touch and that dullness has been severely affecting their marketing campaigns.

Donkey Kong Bonanza is a phenomenal game, but the marketing for it sold it short and made people think that it was just a mysterious anomaly.

They straight up took a alpha of the game to video game events and had people play an incomplete version of it without the Bonanza powers which just made it feel lacking and we didn't get anything solid until the direct.

Pokemon is even worse because they announce this presents two months in advance only to effectively reveal a tsunami of nothing burgers that they could have just announced gradually on Twitter months ago.

The main problem with the Za trailer is that it's basically just a USUM styled remix of the very first pokémon Day trailer which makes it come off as redundant because it feels like we should be getting a more detailed look of the game by this point.

If it weren't for the leaks then I would have been checked out months ago but now I'm just rolling my eyes at how bad they're purposely making the game look which is probably even more annoying
