Milk Tea once said in her video that she does not see many women dressing like Chantal. Most women are a lot more interested in looking good and properly dress with a properly fitted hijab. My speculation is that Salah wanted her to dress in western clothing but if she wanted to wear an hijab, she should wear is appropriately, and not just to cover her bald head and hide her chins. He knows, living in the middle east, how women should look in a hijab, but Chantal does it all wrong.

I don't believe there was a big before & after for Chantal in her teens. I think she just noticed around age 16 that her peers had matured far beyond her. They didn't think her fart jokes were funny, etc.

3) She can be as filthy and lazy as she wants in Syria. Living or camping with her parents means she'd have to be slightly more responsible, like not shitting her pants and just sitting in it while everyone eats dinner. If she spilled food down the front of her dress, someone would encourage her to wipe it off. She might be pressured to brush her teeth.
