mRNA vaccines are a new type of vaccine which has the following advantages:
1. Much lower risk of allergies or illness to patients (compared to say, inactivated or live vaccines, which are usually prepared with chicken egg and can cause illness or trigger ppl with egg allergies.)
2. mRNA vaccine content is copied by the patient cell into new mRNA and so the vaccine itself remains in the body for a short period of time before getting degraded (like all RNA eventually is)
3. They’re considered highly effective in the short term (long term effectiveness isn’t that good, this is more to do with SARS Covid 19 mutating rapidly than the mRNA technology tho.)
4. COVID vaccines have not been known to cause blood clots throughout clinical trials (which are ongoing to test effectiveness of boosters, vaccine timing and other stuff like that)
5. Correlation =\= causation. Your friend may have gotten the coof shot and then got a blood clot but they’re not related.
