Yes and no.

Sig arms Europe is completely different from Sig USA, despite being owned by the same global homo euro holding firm. Sig Europe makes small runs of their rifles every now and then, but mostly makes food packaging now.

Sig USA wears the Sig heritage like a skinsuit not unlike Springfield Armory, except unlike Springfield, they make their guns in the USA (with international parts, some from India, SIG SAAAR!) ,some from their own USA designs, and the legacy P series (P220 and such).

Indian parts are of course, from India, and are subject to Indian quality control, which is probably a factor in some of these issues.

I believe that the only sig SAAAR guns are their striker guns, which have had many teething and QC issues. The P series guns are mostly fine from what I understand.

The Current CEO of Sig USA is Rohn Cohen, who is most famous for running Kimber's reputation into the ground over cutting corners in their QC before he bailed. The P320 being allowed to be this bad is probably his fault, all things concerned. His head should be on a pike, but I don't even see him stepping down for this, because Sig USA line go up.

ive messed with one of these at a gun store like a year ago. it's a full featured 22 rifle so besides the dumb magazine i dont really have an issue with it. its quite small in person but not small enough to really be more portable. its for kids. they sell 1 round 10-22 magazines for some reason too.

Sig likely would've developed a different full size duty pistol from their experience with MHS that might still have QC issues but probably wouldn't randomly go off in the holster and the P320 would be relegated to a Forgotten Weapons curiosity.

And its still pretty "meh" in my opinion (save for the Flux raider chassis for them, that is fuckin' slick)

I suspect that's why Sig has been rolling out the P365XMACRO stuff, which is basically G19 sized. That's a design that, while it has some problems, doesn't have the catastrophic ones the 320 does.

Glock has had a factory near Atlanta, Georgia for over a decade now. It opened in 2013. There are millions of USA branded Glocks out there.

You're right that Sig offered a lower price, but there's more to it. Glock and Sig were the finalists of the trials, and there was another phase of production verification testing. However, that testing was cancelled, allegedly because Sig undercut the bidding by a large amount. This is the point where people suspect foul play happening, bribes or meddling by our greatest ally, who the Sig CEO served in the IDF.

Another thing to mention is that, apart from QC going to shit the main culprit suspected in the P320’s discharge issues is the fact it has a clunky sear system which only exists because of SIG wanting to get around Glock patents and this sear system was jammed into the frame of a pistol originally designed to be hammer fired. This sear system does not exist in other Sig pistols like the P365 which is why that gun does not appear to have the same problems.

It should also be noted that to my knowledge the exact malfunction occurring is not known 100% but the FBI has been able to replicate the circumstances that seem to lead to a discharge.

The Coast Guard actually declined the M17/M18 in favor of Glocks. They're the only branch that didn't adopt it. They look like geniuses now.
