Found out that my eotech wasn’t fully tightened down. I put it on, made sure it didn’t move, zeroed it, double checked. Yep definitely tight! And then I just noticed it move back and forth a bit. I guess after a few matches of lawndarting it into the barrel showed it wasn’t fully seated… which does explain a lot of “there’s no reason why I got that Charlie when my hold was perfect on the alpha” kind of hits

Get a torque wrench/screwdriver
Gotta get that goldilocks zone

Fucking asshole, just say the damn price, its not like I'm asking to hold it. Needless to say, I haven't returned for many reasons.

I think in the fase of guns, corporate stores are probably better or buy direct from the manufacturer everythjng else except the lower.

On the subject of asshole local fudd gunshops I got ripped off for a pin and weld the other day. Not gonna say how much because it's embarrassing but it didn't break the bank or anything but damn. Fuck the whole "SUPPORT UR LOCAL BIDNESSES!" when they treat you like shit and rip you off every chance they can.

I guess I'm lucky as I seem to have more good LGS and ranges than bad around here.

Yeah I fucking hate my LGS. It's 90% pleb shit (red/blue anodized chinesium garbage) and the actual quality guns are all overpriced. They have the audacity to get angry when doing FFL transfers for stuff you ordered online cheaper than their asking price, and now they make people schedule FFL transfers on their shitty calendar on their barely functioning website. I miss the LGS in a previous town I lived in. Small, but they actually had a lot of cool guns for reasonable prices and no scheduling required, they'd call you same day your item came in and tell you it's ready for transfer.

If that was your first time there and you've never purchased anything before from them they WILL hold a grudge against you, especially if its from PSA or even gunjoker. Alot of small stores hate transfers because most big vendors can sell shit way below dealer cost, its just how the game be. I'm lucky to be somewhat "friends" with my LGS's and they don't care about my transfers because its shit they could never find or be able to sell reasonably

thats super gay.

A buddy of mine just got his FFL interview done so Im hoping I can get the friend price and just go through him soon

the future for our LGS's are doing transfers and used guns. I'm certain. there is no money to be made selling new guns as a small store. the margin is just too small.

The closest actual proper gun store to me is 90 miles away. the next closest is Budsgunshop in Lexington at 115 miles. the closest FFl is just down the road but i don't like to bother him. His business is 95% produce and farm store stuff.

all thats why i got MY C&R (which i need to renew, if i can remember to) but for new guns I've got to plan out a day trip for it. It sucks, but I guess it's saved me a shit-ton of money.

100%, the only brick and mortar gun store I'll support now is my local range shop since they actually come close to online prices compared to many other Fudd shops. I'll also hand it to any store that lets you try a product out before buying like a Geissele trigger display is worth supporting.

He was hooking his buddy up, probably facilitating a cosignment.
Maybe but there was a bunch tacticool weapons on the wall with optics, suppressors, and weapon lights. It was probably more of a flex decoration piece and my personal theory is they sold it to make rent on their shoebox sized store since no one in their right mind will shop there due to the 40% markup. If you don't want people asking about prices about particular guns in a gun store, then put up a sign on that wall that says "not for sale."

Funny enough, the last thing I transferred from an online purchase was a PSA lower. The guy got bent out of shape when I showed up, complained I didn't provide a tracking number when I submitted the FFL request online (PSA actually fucked up and didn't send me one), and has a minimum two day waiting period because him and his co-owner sit on their asses all day shooting the shit while the chink wife does all the real work to keep the place in business. I also found out in that visit, they buy direct from PSA and mark it up in store. After that visit, I had enough and now I go out of my way to support garage FFLs where I can.

Well if anyone needs a whitepill, my LGS is great. Transfers are cheap and I've never had a problem with them. I'm one of those "milsurp" collectors (send your insults now) and they have all the milsurp calibers. They're great to do business with.
Now if only I could find a long distance rifle range that wasn't an hour+ away from me.

On an unrelated note, it fascinates me how there aren't any rifles out there, at least on the civilian market, that can really compete with the AR platform.
The BRN 180 comes close I'll admit, but is stupid expensive at 1200 for just an upper
The AR18/15 derivatives seem to all have q/c issues
The AK/AK derivative platform seems to still be antiquated even with modern tech and materials (still heavy with little in the way of optics mounts. Seriously why has no one developed aluminum variants)
All the bullpups seem to have problems in one way or another (accuracy, triggers, weight, etc)
The PTR 63 looks good, but has been in limbo for 2 years and is 8.5 pounds empty with a 1800 price tag
The Mini 14 is Antiqued and mostly a boomer gun; almost nothing for optics mounts or accessories and doesn't take STANAG mags
The Bren II seems well liked, but is godawful expensive at 2500

Its kind of unfortunate, at least for me as a gun hipster who doesn't want to get yet another generic AR15. If that SergieCallie fella on YouTube actually starts making decent FRT triggers, I may go for a PTR 63 when it comes out.

I've got a few decent LGSs in my area that have their issues, but aren't too bad. One of the worst though was a shop called The Gun Vault, which went out of business and is now a luxury car dealership and service shop selling Lambos and Bentleys. The staff were the worst. You would come in to buy something specific and they would ALWAYS try to get you to buy something else, especially if you wanted something that would need to be ordered. "Oh, you want to order a Dan Wesson Specialist? I mean, it's a good gun, but why not buy this GLOCK 22 that we have in stock. That's what I would buy if I were you."

"I've owned several GLOCKs and shot even more. I don't like them. They don't fit my hand. And I hate .40 S&W. I know what I want and that would be the Dan Wesson Specialist. Can you get one in?"

Then proceeds to treat me like I'm an absolute idiot who doesn't know anything about firearms, when I most likely know more than they do.

The last straw for me was when I bought my LMT MWS308. Went in to see if they could get one in. The guy say "Why don't you buy this DPMS .308 instead? It's basically the same gun and just as good." I asked him if he knew anything about the MWS308 and he admitted he didn't. I said to him "If I wanted the DPMS I would buy it. I don't want the DPMS. I want the LMT because it's actually in military use with some countries and has been proven in combat. And I no longer plan on ordering it through you because every time I come in for something specific you assholes treat me like I know nothing. It's not a great way to make and retain customers." and walked out the door. Went to Sportsmans Warehouse and they actually had the MWS308 on the rack and had been trying to sell it for a long time, so they gave me a screaming deal on it just to get it out of inventory. I think I paid $2500 with tax or something like that. This was about ten years ago, maybe a bit more. The Gun Vault was out of business like two years later.

One local LGS that I really like is Galensons in downtown SLC. It's totally old school and has been open probably sixty years at this point. My old man used to take me there when I was a kid. I've bought quite a few guns there over the years, including my Mk23 which I got for under $2000 out the door about ten years ago. I haven't been there since then because you typically have to pay for parking in that area.

Damn, your guy's LGS suck. I have one in my area that is crap, but most of them are awesome. My preferred is really cool about transfers, has an online site that has a pretty significant inventory that they will ship to store and waive all shipping fees, and are always friendly and helpful. One time I bought a used rifle from them that turned out to be broken, and they broke their no return policies to refund me everything, including tax, with cash. I have had them repeatedly do simple gun work for me for free, even when I was a relatively new customer. Selection is limited just because the store isn't the biggest, as the town isn't the biggest, but I still go there first for my firearms, and even typically check there for mags and holsters first just because they are pretty good.

Guess there's a reason they have been in business since I was a little kid.

Got my G19 slide back from the Glock store. Yup, its a "C" now.
G19C.webp

About the only complaint that I have with the machining is that the ports on the slide are razor sharp, wish they had knocked the edges down enough so that you can't shave with them at least.

Installed the Glock performance trigger while I was at it. It's way better, as agreed by everyone who has touched it so far. I polished up all the contact points with simichrome polish and dropped in a Ghost 3.5# connector that I already had in the gun. It didn't really need it, but I had it, and it did make it a little better, so whatever.

We need to return to front door delivery. I'll keep saying it but there are countries that ban "assault weapons" that will ship a gun to your door.

Local LGS in my area are pretty cool too, even if I just go in and fondle guns I have no intention of over spending for.

I'm kind of surprised that they didn't do that at all. Programming that into their CNC couldn't cost them THAT much time but I guess time is money.
