Wow ok, this might be getting serious. You could argue that Steam sweeping up the porn games was just this small fraction that most of its userbase wouldn't ever care about, but Itch.io is where actual indie creative freedom (read: degenerates) actually congregate and post their games to which is significantly smaller. If it's affecting a small game shop site like Itch.io, then shit may be going down in the gaming sphere.

Also this is not just about small indie games that nobody cares about.

I'm talking about things like Compile Heart, Idea Factory, Inti Creates, Tamsoft and Kit9/Nemilei being in grave danger.

(Inti creates less so because they have games that don't breach the hypothetical leviathan regulations)

I seriously doubt all of these companies would be transferring to accepting only crypto or their own payment processor, but I believe that they (again not Inti Creates) are just a step away from going out of business because the EU and United Nations don't like them.

The horse gacha girl game was rated PG here. Made in Abyss and it's related game have not been banned. But the Gothic inspired game Risen is still unpurchasable on Steam after 18 years because you can smoke gillyweed, and the Australia made Schedule I was banned here for a few months while the dev had to show his own government what he made was ok to be purchased by his own mind

An early payment processor victim was regular jap-made adult videos. For over two years, it hasn't been possible for non-Japanese to buy movies normally on their largest storefront. The second-largest this year was walled off, geoblocking non-Japanese access rather than trouble themselves by allowing any of them to buy with roundabout means. Even those same roundabout means, like middlemen gift cards, are getting more difficult to buy as storefronts that sell those start mysteriously no longer taking payments from western cards.

According to discussions I've been seeing, it seems Itch.io recently had an announcement or something that revealed Collective Shout was also targeting them alongside Steam this go around, and they got a much bigger win enforcing censorship there due to their smaller size as a platform.
Apparently Itch has so far deleted a number of uploads, essentially shadow banned all the (currently) remaining NSFW content from being searched, and has even fully removed some purchases from users libraries

Call me , but hey, maybe this'll actually be the event that starts finally waking them up to just how bad the payment processor stranglehold situation is for everyone!
