Part of me thinks people are mad about the Epstein thing. Regardless, I'm just disillusioned with American politics in general, and I can't force myself to lie to myself anymore and lump myself into either red tribe or blue tribe when you've done as much reading of political history and objective observing and reflective thinking as I have the past five years. I don't like either option, and if the mentality is "just hold your nose and vote R because you despise everything D stands for", then there really is no option for people like me who are politically homeless, is there?

EDIT: Ninja'd by @Velociraptor - you are spot on; "the man isn't far right enough" is a major contributing factor. As I said above, I don't like either party. There is nobody to vote for if the policy doesn't change or fix anything, but the rhetoric promises things too good to be true.

The last six months have been the most satisfying era of American politics in my entire life. But then, I voted for Trump because I want illegal spics & niggers sent home and libs to cry bitter tears as everything they love is torn to shreds. Oregon decriminalized drugs a few years ago and recently voted to go back to criminalization again because it didn't work. You don't save any money when you have packs of drugged out zombies shooting up and leaving needles all over, building homeless encampments and driving away people and businesses from the area, and committing all manner of other actual crimes either because they're too drugged out to care or because they want more drugs.

The problem in Oregon was that they didn’t decriminalize it, but totally legalized it.

Along with a bunch of other harebrained policies that were toxic for law and order and attracted homeless like a magnet.

I’m talking about decriminalizing drugs. You can still get arrested, you can still spend a night or a weekend in jail.

But no more big ass special drug task forces costing millions of dollars and no more years long sentences (costing hundreds of thousands of dollars per inmate.)

Jail is pointless for people, but they cannot be left to roam free because they're too much of a danger to themselves and others. That's why I like Trump's proposal that includes institutionalizing these people. They need to be put somewhere where they can clean out their systems and get treatment for actual problems that they have which they may be self-medicating with hard drugs.

The gold standard for rehabs are the ones they offer doctors. We’re talking a year in a decent rehab learning new habits. They have a success rate of over 80%

The max covered by insurance for regular plebs is as far as I remember like 90 days.

All of this can’t be done in isolation either.

Junkies don’t just use drugs because they’re addicted. Chances are they have shit lives with no meaningful job, no housing and opportunities.

On top of that ex addicts with felonies have a particular hard time ever finding meaningful employment, which is another good argument for decriminalizing possession and dealing.

The cheap option would just be letting them die, because everything else is expensive. Either you pay for police and prisons, institutions and clinicians, or invisibly as the homeless destroy the communities where they gather. Junkies are going to to be a drain on the system one way or another and many of them have no desire to get better. The only inexpensive option is to let them die.

The only problem with that is there’s an ever growing pool of people with shit lives to replace them. It’s not an accident that Appalachia, that lost most of their jobs after NAFTA became a hot spot of opiate addiction.
