I'm pretty sure it's just masking or social mimicking that autists do. One sign of this is his over reliance on puns. Not because he wouldn't insert them if he could, but because he's the type of person to spend forever "homebrewing" the game, planning something out, doing a single session, then spending another few months doing "tweaks" to it. Of course, the full game never ends up happening.

At most his players only ever got a single small plot arc of 2-3 sessions before he took the game down to "adjust" things and then spent the next year updating them once every week or so about the Cool New Classes he added, until everyone forgot about it.

You can adjust those settings to make your lows deeper and your highs not so nasal.
It comes with a lot of presets too.
