That's a fine outcome. The expense of imprisoning people has less to do with the prisoners themselves and more to do with the overarching bureaucracy/manpower needs of running a prison, which you have regardless. Much in the same way that executing a man is very cheap but the political and legal processes through which executions are actualized are very expensive.
Except now he does so for the betterment of society rather than just his own.
Pardon me, but IMO reduced prison costs =/= greater justice.
