If they can't reach agreement on custody and it has to be determined by a court, there will be a guardian ad litem's report (starting price $10K here) involved. The GAL's report on Becky would make for very interesting reading.

There are no police reports or ED records showing physical abuse to the infant.

The much vaunted "flat head" can happen in kids whose parents are not doing anything wrong, so by itself it would not generally mean much.

There is no evidence of malnutrition or the child being left unattended.

There really isn't that much interesting to a court appointed mental health evaluator. The kid is in pretty good shape by the standards of family court. Although very few veterans are given a 100% VA disability rating (the federal government, giving severely disabled veterans money? ) so the 40-something grand per year income is a moot point. Boyfriend #2 is prolly making 10 grand a year, if he's lucky.

I also find it hard to believe the type of person who'd willingly interact with Becky would have done enough to earn a high disability rating. Yeah, you can game the system a bit and play the paperwork game, but that also takes time, effort, and a hell of a lot of persistence. The most plausible explanation for this person to have a high disability rating is accidentally getting hit by a humvee, fucked over by some shitty injection shenanigans, or some completely random shit that occasionally happens.
