The point of the Avatar is so there is a layer of anonymity and a "face" for people to look at so it's not a disembodied voice. While pseudo anonymous sources are a degree above anonymous sources in terms of credibility, just because you may not like the form of the messenger does not mean you should fully disregard the message. Besides, the only difference vtubers have from the PNG Rantsonas of old is that they're more animated, and predominantly women.

Regarding dropping the persona, it's largely dependent on the person. There are some who decide to partially drop the anime mask and stream either partially or fully in the flesh, Uwo's Lab, Onigiri, Bagsterd, and Juniper Actias come to mind. However, it's still largely considered "immersion breaking" for streamers to do it, as, again, the avatar largely serves to provide a layer of anonymity. I shouldn't need to extoll the risk that comes with showing your face online here on The Kiwi Farms. Mind you that keeping your face hidden mitigates the risks somewhat, until a failure of opsec or some other event leaks it.

Yeah yeah I get all that, but if there's stuff that she truly believes in and she feels some of it gets disregarded because of her persona, it would be an interesting compromise. At the very least the people who disregard it because of her persona would have to find a new excuse. However, it is understandable if she'd rather spend that time making money as a fox.

Funny you mention general apathy. When Kirsche started beating the drums of BRIDGE, it was happenstance that a viewer happen to have an in with Sidescrollers. And when Craig and Blabs got front row seats to the presentation, then came Its-a-Gundam and finally other normiesphere tubers started covering BRIDGE.

However, said normiespheres (Doomcock and Clownfish come to mind) misconstrue it as DIE rebranded when in reality its an evolved form of DIE as its backed by so many globohomo orgs including and not limited to the WEF. The bitter irony here is, both Clownfish and Doomcock have been raging against the rot that has ruined entertainment but fail to realize that they've been fighting the symptoms and not the cause because BRIDGE is the pet project of Globohomo in general and DIE is but an after-effect of said pet project.

Another thing about the general apathy here is that the cattle is STILL too comfortable with things. Our dear Feeder once pointed out that the reason why the US hasn't broken into a bloody revolution (Said question was during Trump's first year) is because they can still feed themselves and distract themselves. Bread and circuses.
