Extrapolating from some shit I've heard in entertaiment spaces:
If anyone does more than a very casual meet up for work-only purposes, banging is involved. Sometimes even if the reasons ar work related, there's still banging.

I don't see how this is a bad thing, in fact I think this should be the standard worldwide for every industry. If you land a position at the top of an industry, and you are not performing at a rate that warrants that kind of salary, why should you be allowed to rest on your laurels as opposed to being replaced by someone who will work harder? We don't extend that kind of courtesy to basic wagies, why should we for managers and top earners?

The issue is that people aren't replaced with those more competent. The work culture teaches people to never aspire above their current station; if you are worthy you will be awarded by the hierarchy. can't speak for anyone else but I certainly don't, and I'd assume that goes for most people. of course there will be people that do, it's statistically impossible to not happening, but overall it's not that simple.

This isn't unique to Japan technically, but it is uniquely localized over there that makes it unbearable.

japan is very much into groupism, which is one of it's downsides. the whole "nail that sticks out" and stuff. from a western perspective, which is much more about individualism, of course this looks even worse. however this also means the west has problem you won't have in japan (like easily succumbing to globohomo).

in the end it IS a different culture, with all it's pros and cons. a lot of people like it because it is different (and not as pozzed). society also doesn't change over night, last I've heard the whole work culture - while still widespread - is not as bad as it was way back in the 80/90's.

True but I think that's where entertainment value comes into play because I'd only watch either one if I found that particular streams content worth watching. It can be boiled down similar to TV shows or YT channels, those that can be entertaining and sustain it are the ones that achieve success regardlessof what the two of us like.

I knew a lawyer. Really smart guy, had his shit together, in his 60s. turns out he had a damn near 50-year long heroin habit, even since his teens. This came out because he'd forgotten to put away his kit and got him talking about it. He was extremely careful, and always had someone else hold for him. First his dad, then his mom, and now his secretary as part of her duties, was to only give him I whatever his weekly ration was no matter what he said or threatened. Shot up between his toes, did the saline thing to keep his veins from collapsing. But you'd never know he he had a habit.
Anyway, just because one smart guy was willing and able to put in the work to source high grade smack and not turn his arms into trackmarks I don't think we should legalize heroin or that its a good idea.
There are some people who just enjoy the shrill e-whore drama and that's fine. but that's not the major of the "culture".

Oh there's for sure pedos that are in there but I don't think you can put apples and oranges in a basket and call them grapes because it really varies from streamer to streamer. It's way easier to see where those type of people are because you'll have VTubers like Saba who fully play into their loli fantasy. The more you see people who actually play into it the more absolute weird shit you see and I think platforms in general need to crack down on it and certainly put a stop to playing into it.
