He is legit mentally disabled. I have dealt with his kind in programmer communities before. They usually hang around in Discord communities and spew literal unintelligible niggerbabble in help channels that nobody can read. When people can't read their minds they will either switch to obvious ChatGPT responses or start randomly DMing people similarly nonsensical messages.

My guess is that he asked ChatGPT "easy free game engine," got GameMaker, downloaded it, realized setting up a system to facilitate a VN would require effort, and then asked "free game engine for visual novel" and found RenPy that way.

As for the installer being in his game's directory; I think he is putting everything on his fucking computer in the downloads folder, game projects included. He is not smart enough to know how to create new directories or know what a "working directory" is. Like I said, he is too stupid to properly operate a computer.

He's also trying to add VR support for his... visual novels. How he is he going to do this in RenPy, which seems like a very simplistic game engine? I have no idea. How he would do that with GameMaker instead? I also have no idea. I think that's what the GameMaker is for though.

GameMaker is a 2D-only game engine. RenPy is a library/"module" (as the Pythontards call it). Neither of them are suited for VR. Unity has good native VR support but that's it.

I would also ask what benefit VR would give to a game where you press one button for a couple of hours and read shit but I don't think he's thought that far. Or thought at all.

I vividly remember on his itch.io him having a devlog about VR but I can't seem to find it.

It seems that he was doing his game dev in Godot, but switched to RenPy in November 2024.
