I like reading those old news articles from like 2014 saying something to the effect of "China WILL collapse by 2020 and here's why!" to give myself a good laugh. The Chinese century is here
I got into a conversation with a Chinese person (they spoke Chinese at least, good enough for me) on an online platform where I just used google translate and im assuming they did the same. it was a brief conversation but very enlightening. It was in the comments of an esoteric international shipping "chat room" for lack of a better word and we were both responding to how the Houthi attacks impact global shipping. They had made a very interesting comment with a fair few response that ill paraphrase as it was lengthy but basically they said "Americas foreign policy has been to bully for its own aims, china seeks to bribe for its own gains (in relation to 3rd world nations) and they made a really compelling argument for how working with groups they dont align with politically or even remotely culturally can be posible without controlling the regime in question and just having whatever power structure that already naturally exists be in "debt" to you no matter their beliefs or practices without trying to artificially prop up a puppet regime that might do whatever we say but commands no real power over the people of the nation in question.
However believe it or not this wasent the interesting part, that just made me want to reach out and ask what appeared to me to be a rather, salient zip. I replied to them that their comment had inspired reflection in me and posited to them, if they dident mind, telling me what their own and the average Chinese persons though on how much there is concern over a war with America though I made it as painfully clear as I could this was not something I was in favor of.
Their response is something I think EVERY American should hear
